Description

- 1 - - 1 -

The present invention relates to an electric tool for cutting the branches of trees or shrubs. Tree pruning is now carried out using large manual pruning shears (also known as cut branches) or some power tools similar to chainsaws but of smaller size and systematically mounted on telescopic handles. The disadvantages on manual secateurs (or cut branches) are: Obligation to use both hands. Cutting diameter limited to about 40mm. Relatively large effort asked to the user. The disadvantages on pruners type electric chainsaws mounted at the end of a telescopic handle are: By design, they can not be used with one hand. The effort required is angular (therefore relatively important).

Lorsqu'une branche est située en hauteur, cet outil se règle différemment et nécessite alors l'utilisation d'un 2961374 - 2 They are sharp on almost all the circumference and can therefore be potentially dangerous. The device according to the invention makes it possible to effectively remedy the drawbacks noted on the two tools mentioned above by virtue of its totally different principle: unlike the existing electric branch cuts which have a chain guide pointing in the extension of the tool and which can cut on almost all the periphery, the device according to the invention, has a channel guide channel between two jaws between which scrolls a cutting chain of the type of that of a chainsaw. When a branch is placed between the two jaws, it is channeled and maintained for cutting. The effort required is linear and requires the use of one hand with a suitable handle. This action would be impossible with one hand for an angular effort. When a branch is located in height, this tool is set differently and requires the use of a 2961374 - 2

Lorsqu'un utilisateur pousse l'outil contre une branche et qu'il actionne le bouton (11) celle-ci sera plaquée contre la mâchoire (2) qui fait office de butée puis sera coupée par la chaine (5). 5 telescopic handle to "attack" it from above, which eventually avoids the pinching and blocking of the chain when the branch begins to fall. The particularity of this tool lies in the fact that it is composed of: 10 - Two jaws for channeling and scrolling a cutting chain (the type of a chain saw) located between them. - An ergonomic handle allowing to use it with one hand. This is to replace the angular movement with a linear (or axial) movement which allows the use of the tool with one hand with all the advantages that entails. The attached diagrams illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 represents the apparatus seen from the side. Figure 2 shows the apparatus viewed from above. Figure 3 shows the apparatus in the folded position. Figure 4 illustrates the interest of cutting from above. Referring to these diagrams, the tool consists of an electric motor (12) actuated by a knob (11) 25 which drives a pinion (13) and on which is engaged a cutting chain (5) which rotates around a guide (4) assisted by the pinions (3) and (14) (which limit the friction related to the angles). This assembly is fixed on a head (6) equipped with two jaws (1) and (2) which can channel the branches to the chain (5). The assembly, by means of a head (6), is associated with an ergonomic handle (8), fixed so as to be able to effect articulation between these two parts, (thus allowing adjustment to improve the ergonomics according to the situation). When a user pushes the tool against a branch and he actuates the button (11) it will be pressed against the jaw (2) which acts as a stop and then cut by the chain (5).

To cut a high branch, the tool will be adjusted differently: by pressing the lock button (7), the head (6) pivots with respect to the handle (8) at the motor shaft (12) and is thus positioned according to FIG. In this position, a telescopic handle (10) will be placed in the housing (9) of the handle (8) which will reach the highest branches. The tool will be placed above the branch and so that it is positioned between the two jaws (1) and (2) whose spacing could be made adjustable by a suitable means. A linear downward movement will cut the branch. As an indication, and not limited to, the dimensions of the tool should be about 380 mm for the length, 120 mm for the width and 130 mm for the height. The cutting diameter can be up to 70 mm (see spacing between the jaws marked (a) in fig.l.This tool is for individuals and professionals who need to prune easily the branches of trees or shrubs located at man's author or at the top of the trees, it allows the user to keep a free hand to hold or hold the branches they cut in. Example: User placed on a stepladder, It allows also to quickly cut the branches to reduce their volume, for example: saving space in a trailer.
