Lors d'événementiels, tel que des présentations de véhicules, des journées d'accueil dites « portes ouvertes », ou encore des compétitions ou des rassemblements sportifs, des sponsors sont toujours associés qui participent à l'événement. Bien évidemment, ces sponsors apportent un soutien financier à ces événements en contrepartie de d'une publicité négociée au travers de différents support de communication, tel que l'affichage de leur marque ou emblème. En particulier, cet affichage se présente sous forme d'un support d'information, ainsi dénommé car il comporte sur une de ses faces un visuel. Ce support d'information comporte des moyens de fixations lui permettant de venir se placer sur les parois, les murs et les sols du lieu de l'événement, voire même venir s'apposer sur les vêtements des organisateurs de l'événement ou des sportifs, dans le cas d'une manifestation sportive. De tels moyens de fixations se présentent souvent sous la forme d'une couche adhésive ou autocollante située sur la face opposée du visuel. L'utilisation d'autocollants lors de ces évènements permet de réaliser un gain de temps et de s'affranchir d'autres moyens de fixations venant marquer de manière définitive la surface de réception et nécessitant des outils lors de la mise en place, comme par exemple un vissage par chevillage au sein d'une paroi murale. Toutefois, ces autocollants, une fois la fin de l'événement arrivée, présentent l'inconvénient d'être difficiles à retirer du fait même des propriétés d'adhésion, mais aussi et surtout des grandes dimensions, parfois de plusieurs mètres carrés, de ces supports d'information. Pour ce faire, il faut alors arracher ces supports d'informations, provoquant souvent leur destruction partielle, et se servir d'outils pour enlever efficacement les résidus des supports et de colle pouvant subsistés suite à cet arrachement, opération fastidieuse entraînant une perte de temps importante. Dans ces conditions il apparaît évident que, d'une part, on peut abimer la surface de réception sur lequel était collé ou apposé l'affichage et, d'autre part, le support d'information ne peut être réutilisé. C'est pour cette raison qu'il existe également des supports d'information dit repositionnables, où leur couche adhésive est réalisée par une colle qui permet d'augmenter la facilité de retrait de l'affichage sans nécessité son arrachement. De ce fait, l'affichage peut alors être retiré en limitant les dommages subis par les parois, murs ou sols qui ont servi de support. Cependant, ces supports repositionnables, bien qu'apportant une faciliter de démontage, sont en réalité rarement réutilisables comme le laisse supposer le qualificatif de « repositionnable ». Plus particulièrement, si la force d'adhésion que procure la colle dite repositionnable est telle que le support d'information peut être aisément retiré, il est nécessaire d'appliqué à ce dernier une force de traction conduisant habituellement à dépasser les limites d'élasticité du support, en lui imprimant une déformation quasi permanente empêchant tout nouvelle application, dans des conditions acceptables du support d'information, sur une autre surface de réception. En d'autres termes sous l'effet de cette déformation ce support d'information ne peut plus reposer convenablement à plat sur une quelconque surface de réception.
