La présente invention concerne une porte latérale de véhicule automobile comprenant une peau extérieure en métal sur laquelle est fixée un bandeau de protection en matière plastique et un verrou pour verrouiller et déverrouiller manuellement la porte. On connaît des véhicules automobiles dont les portes latérales sont recouvertes extérieurement par un bandeau de protection en matière plastique qui protège la peau extérieure en métal de la porte à l'égard des petits chocs urbains. Ce bandeau de protection est en matière plastique rigide, de sorte que cette matière ne permet pas de réaliser une liaison étanche entre elle et la peau extérieure de la porte. Cependant, la peau extérieure des portes décrites dans ces brevets ne comporte pas de bandeau de protection en matière plastique. Le but de la présente invention est de créer une porte latérale de véhicule automobile équipée d'un bandeau de protection s'étendant dans la zone de fixation du verrou et dans laquelle le verrou est protégé par un cache. Ce but est atteint, selon l'invention, grâce à une porte latérale de véhicule automobile comprenant une peau extérieure en métal sur laquelle est fixée un bandeau de protection en matière plastique et un verrou pour verrouiller et déverrouiller manuellement la porte, caractérisée en ce que le bandeau de protection s'étend dans la zone de fixation du verrou et comprend une paroi intérieure en matière plastique rigide qui est recouverte par une paroi extérieure en matière plastique souple, et ledit bandeau comprend une ouverture située en regard dudit verrou, dans laquelle est fixé de façon amovible un cache en matière plastique. Le cache protège et masque ainsi le verrou, tout en étant intégré au bandeau de protection qui recouvre une partie prépondérante de la peau extérieure de la porte.
