Abstract
Description
The present invention is in the field of surface coating manufacture. The invention more particularly relates to a method of manufacturing a surface coating from a decorative fabric. It will be noted that such a fabric, within the meaning of the invention, is a flexible material and is similar to a painting cloth, namely consisting of a weaving of flax fibers, hemp or a mixture of both. , of cotton, or of synthetic fibers. Such a fabric can be coated with a primer, before decoration. The invention will find a particular application, but in no way limiting, in the realization of surface coating for furniture and decoration. In known manner, surface coatings, in particular in the field of furniture, have surface characteristics depending on the material used. The latter is chosen according to the use of the coating. Wide ranges of colors and patterns exist, depending on the material used. However, in the current state, it is hardly possible to customize the pattern of the material, in particular for furniture of which said material has a useful surface, namely that it is subject to constraints related to its use. (for example: worktop, counter or table). However, it has been imagined transparent coatings, glass or plastic material, under which can be arranged decorative supports, remaining visible through said coating. The latter then makes it possible to protect said decorative supports while ensuring their visibility. Many products using this principle exist in furniture, such as the frame to hang. In any case, it is always necessary to interpose a distinct, protective and transparent layer in front of the chosen decoration supports. Indeed, for a fabric, a layer of varnish is then not sufficient as a coating providing protection over a satisfactory life, especially for a useful surface of a piece of furniture. Thus, it is mandatory to provide an arrangement or means adapted, often complex, to allow access to the decorative means present under the transparent protective plate, for the purpose of introducing or removing them. Another solution consists of printing patterns on various surfaces, such as wood, metal, glass or plastic. If the visual result depends considerably on the quality of the printing means used, the protective characteristic as a useful surface always depends on an additional layer, such as a varnish or a transparent plate. Finally, materials can form surface coatings by plating, gluing, interlocking or masonry. In the particular case of furniture, such materials may consist of lamellar plates or sheets, such as for laminate flooring or veneer sheets on a panel consisting of an agglomeration of particles or MDF type or HDF (reciprocally for "Medium" or "High Density Fiber"). These materials are generally multilayer and consists of a veneer comprising an intermediate layer, in the form of a "layer", namely a layer, glued on a support, panel type, and covered with a protective film. However, the decorative layer employed can not be likened to a fabric, within the meaning of the invention, the method of manufacturing such materials being provided for very thin layers to be glued on a rigid support.
The invention therefore aims to overcome the disadvantages of the state of the art by providing a method of manufacturing a surface coating from a decorative fabric. To do this, first of all, said canvas is decorated. In addition, such a process consists in c-veneering the resulting coating onto a support. The decorative coating thus obtained has improved protection and allows its use as a useful surface, especially within a piece of furniture.
As such, the present invention also relates to a furnishing device, comprising at least one surface and characterized in that said surface is covered at least in part with a surface coating obtained by means of the method according to the invention. .
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following detailed description of non-limiting embodiments of the invention. The present invention relates to the manufacture of a surface coating from a decorative fabric.
As mentioned above, in the sense of the invention, such a fabric is made of a flexible material and is similar to a painting cloth, namely consisting of a weaving of flax fibers, hemp or a mixture of two, of cotton, or of synthetic fibers. Such a fabric can be coated with a primer, before decoration. As such, in order to obtain the desired aesthetic effect, said fabric is decorated. This decoration can be done manually, as a painting, or in an automated way, including a suitable printing system.
Advantageously, the invention provides for covering the fabric thus decorated by hot application and under pressure of a protective film. To do this, is applied to said decorated web a heat-sealing film in a heating press.
It will be noted that, according to one embodiment, such a film may be of the non-pre-drilled polyester type, providing a seal on the upper surface of the coating. Such a film may be of a thickness of the order of 65 microns. According to preferred embodiments, in no way limiting, the application of such a film is carried out at a temperature between 100 and 120 degrees Celsius. In addition, the pressure can be between 250 and 300 kilograms per square centimeter. The temperature and pressure ranges are adapted according to the type of decoration applied to said fabric, in particular in order to preserve the pigments and colors. Moreover, depending on the decoration of the canvas, the application can be extended for a variable period. In particular, for decoration by color printing, the application is carried out for a period of 5 to 6 minutes, while for a decoration in black and white, the application is carried out for a period of 6 to 10 minutes . The application time is also calculated so as to keep intact the pigments and colors of the decoration of the canvas.
Advantageously, after the above-mentioned application, the invention consists in veneering, hot but preferably cold, the coating obtained on a support. According to the preferred embodiment, said support is made of wood or a wood-based material, such as a particle board, a laminate or melamine, an agglomerate, in particular of the MDF or HDF type. The invention also relates to a furnishing device for receiving the coating obtained through the process described above.
In particular, such a furnishing device comprises at least one surface. The latter is covered at least in part with a surface coating obtained as above. In addition, according to a preferred embodiment, said surface comprises a space for receiving said coating. Such a space can be dimensioned in size and shape in a manner complementary to that of the coating obtained. Preferably, said space has a hollow of a depth equivalent to the thickness of said coating obtained so that the latter fits within said hollow and comes flush with the furniture. In other words, said hollow consists of lateral edges protruding from said surface so as to allow the embedding of the coating. Furthermore, said surface also comprises removable means for maintaining said coating covering said surface.
To do this, the dimensions of the receiving space may be close to those of said coating so as to marry it interlocking and allow its interlocking force. In addition, said surface may have a through opening, formed within said space, so as to allow said interlocking liner to separate for a simple push from the opposite face. Thus, the present invention makes it possible to obtain a coating from the treatment of a decorated fabric. Such a coating is able to stiffen the fabric, while protecting it from wear as a useful surface, the risk of staining or light degradation, especially under the effect of ultraviolet radiation. In addition, the manufacturing method according to the invention is simple and quick to implement, at a lower cost, thus making it possible to regularly and easily consider the replacement of decorated coatings. Finally, the invention provides a customizable aesthetic appearance. Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples illustrated and described above which may have variants and modifications without departing from the scope of the invention.
