Abstract
Description
The object of the present invention is, in the field of object transport, a pressure-free accumulation table of FIFO type, that is to say first-in / first-out type. Accumulation tables are arranged on the path taken by objects in transfer from one treatment station to another and are intended to control the flow of objects, constituting a buffer stock that can evolve as a function of variations in the pace both upstream and downstream. Such an accumulation table, in its most successful version, comprises two parallel conveyors driven in opposite directions, connected by means allowing the transfer of objects from one conveyor to the other, said transfer means being capable of be moved parallel to said conveyors in one direction or the other. The displacement of the transfer means makes it possible, depending on the direction of their movement, to increase or reduce the path that each object must traverse, and consequently to increase or reduce the number of objects stored. The transfer means may consist of a carriage movable between the two conveyors, and provided with a motorized strip for moving the objects from one conveyor to another. Such an accumulation table has many advantages, but also disadvantages, not related to its operation but to its use.
Indeed, an accumulation table has many elements moving relative to each other, namely the two conveyors relative to each other and each relative to the frame that carries them, the carriage relative to each of the two conveyors and the frame that carries it, the transfer means relative to the movable carriage. Each of these relative movements are likely to generate risks of accidents, so it is mandatory, for security reasons, to control or prohibit access to the vicinity of such an accumulation table.
Also, this implies that some interventions can be performed only after stopping the operation of the accumulation table and thus the complete installation, which is detrimental to the entire process. The present invention aims to provide an accumulation table to overcome these various disadvantages. The accumulation table according to the invention is a pressure-free accumulation table of FIFO type, that is to say first-in / first-out, disposed on the path taken by objects in transfer from a control station. processing to another in order to control the flow by the constitution of a buffer stock which can evolve according to variations of the rate both upstream and downstream, and comprising two parallel conveyors driven in directions reverse, connected by means allowing the transfer of objects from one conveyor to the other, said transfer means being movable parallel to said conveyors in one direction or the other, and is essentially characterized in that it comprises an endless belt stretched between two rollers, interposed between said two conveyors, whose upper run 20 extends parallel to the upper strands of the latter, and occupies all the space between said two strands s, and in that said transfer means are integral with said endless band. Advantageously, the endless belt constitutes a casing which covers the space dedicated to the mechanisms, so as not to require to prohibit access to the surroundings of the accumulation table. According to a first particular embodiment of the accumulation table according to the invention, it comprises means 30 for driving in translation the endless belt so as to cause, indirectly, the displacement of the transfer means. According to an additional feature of the first embodiment of the accumulation table according to the invention, one of the two rollers is rotated in one direction or the other, so as to drive said endless belt into translation. According to an additional feature of the first embodiment of the accumulation table according to the invention, the endless belt is driven in translation by a third roller. According to a second particular embodiment of the accumulation table according to the invention, the endless belt is mounted free in translation on the rollers, while the transfer means are associated with drive means designed able to move said transfer means and, indirectly, said endless band According to an additional feature of the second embodiment of the accumulation table according to the invention, it comprises a rack which extends longitudinally under the upper end of the endless belt, and on which the pinion of a motor means integral with the transfer means meshes. The advantages and characteristics of the accumulation table according to the invention will become more clearly apparent from the description which follows and which refers to the appended drawing, which represents several non-limiting embodiments thereof. In the accompanying drawing: - Figure 1 shows a schematic plan view of an accumulation table according to the invention. - Figure 2 shows a schematic plan view of the same accumulation table in a different configuration of use. FIG. 3 represents a partial schematic view in elevation of a first embodiment of the same table. - Figure 4 shows a partial schematic elevational view of a variant of the same first embodiment of the same table. FIG. 5 represents a partial schematic elevational view of a second embodiment of the same table.
With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, it can be seen that an accumulation table according to the invention comprises, in known manner, on the one hand two parallel conveyors 1 and 2, driven in opposite directions respectively E and S, and on the other hand a carriage 3 designed adapted to move between the conveyors 1 and 2, parallel thereto, and comprising transfer means 30, in this case a closed loop conveyor 31, which ensures the passage from the conveyor 1 to the conveyor 2. In operation, the objects B to be transferred arrive on the conveyor 1 and leave again via the conveyor 2 via the closed-loop conveyor 31. In order to absorb differences in cadence, the carriage 3 can move between the conveyors 1 and 2, so as to lengthen or shorten the path that the objects B must travel and thus constitute a buffer stock.
According to the invention, and as can also be seen in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, the accumulation table comprises an endless belt 4, interposed between the two conveyors 1 and 2, and stretched between two rollers 40 and 41, and whose upper strand 42 on the one hand is parallel and preferably in the same plane as the upper strands 10 and 20 of the conveyors respectively 1 and 2, on the other hand is of a width to occupy all the space separating these upper strands 10 and 20, and secondly is integral with the carriage 3. In Figure 3, in a first embodiment of the invention, the endless belt 4 is driven in transfer in one direction or in the other by the rotation, respectively in one direction or the other, of the roller 41 through a motor 43, and the displacement of the endless belt 4 generates the displacement of the carriage 3.
In FIG. 4 it can be seen, in a variant of the first embodiment, that the accumulation table comprises a third roller 44 on which the lower run 45 of the endless belt 4 passes. The lower run 45 is kept in contact narrow with the roller 44 through tension rollers 46, while it is rotated by a motor means 47, so as to drive the endless belt 4.
Note that other variants are feasible, the purpose being to drive the endless belt 4 in displacement, so as to indirectly drive the carriage 3. In Figure 5, in a second embodiment of the invention, the rollers 40 and 41 are mounted in free rotation, while the carriage 3 is provided with a motor means 32 adapted to drive in rotation, in one direction or the other, a pinion 33 meshing on a rack 5 extending between the rollers 40 and 41, under the upper end 42 of the endless belt 4. Thus, the carriage 3 can move longitudinally between the conveyors 1 and 2, and it carries with it the endless belt 4, the rollers 40 and 41 being in free rotation. Whatever the embodiment considered, the endless belt constitutes a protective casing which isolates all the moving elements from the accumulation table, so that this limits the installation of protective accessory, and allows certain interventions on the accumulation table without having to interrupt its operation.
