Abstract
Description
Device and method for locating equipment onboard aircraft for maintenance and configuration management purposes.
The present invention relates to the field of assistance to the maintenance of an aircraft on the ground.
More specifically, the invention consists of a method and a system for enabling the precise location of the equipment requiring a maintenance operation, so as to increase the efficiency of said maintenance operations.
Currently, the maintenance of an aircraft on the ground comprises various steps: one can cite as an example of a device and method of assisting the maintenance of an aircraft those described in the French patent application No. 2 908 537. Said various steps start with the information by the staff of a register, or logbook according to the English term, listing all the alarms, anomalies, or other events noted by the crew during the flight. After the flight, the centralized maintenance system of the aircraft, often called CMC, for Centralized Maintenance Computer, establishes a flight report, called PFR for Post Flight Report according to the dedicated acronym. Subsequently, the intervention of the maintenance personnel is based on the consideration of the logbook, the PFR, and any alarms automatically communicated by the aircraft. The events mentioned in the logbook and the PFR may require maintenance operations to be performed on certain equipment.
The maintenance staff then checks whether or not these maintenance operations are actually carried out in the immediate future. In this context, additional diagnostic actions may need to be carried out. When it has been determined that a maintenance operation should be carried out on a piece of equipment, which will be referred to below in the description and in the target equipment claims, the maintenance personnel must first locate said target equipment. However, in the state of the art, maintenance personnel have no means to locate the target equipment with certainty. Indeed, the location of said target equipment is generally known in an approximate manner, allowing to locate it in an area in which there are, however, a number of potential equipment, that is to say close to the target equipment. For example, some equipment being redundant, it may be necessary to replace a failed computer. However, two identical computers performing the same function and located side by side are presented to the maintenance personnel. In addition, the identification means of these computers can be difficult to access. As a result, it is possible for service personnel to dismount the calculator that did not require maintenance. The consequences can be of various gravities: • they may be computers or equipment that have been unjustifiably deposited, • they may also be errors that have an impact on the future safety of the flight. Another example is the maintenance of a small target equipment integrated into a passenger seat. Such a seat includes electronic equipment integrated into its structure, and potentially difficult to access unless to dismantle many elements. The invention makes it possible to locate the target equipment remotely, inducing significant time savings.
To summarize, according to the current state of the art, a maintenance staff now considers the logbook of an aircraft on the ground. Maintenance personnel generally have a portable access terminal for maintenance assistance. This portable access terminal can be connected to the aircraft in order, for example, to retrieve the logbook in electronic form. The maintenance staff also has limited time to carry out the necessary maintenance operations. And it must, first, accurately locate the target equipment or target equipment before performing any maintenance.
However, no known method or device allows it to easily and accurately locate a target device. It is this problem that the invention proposes to solve.
For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a method of assisting the maintenance of an aircraft, said aircraft comprising a set of equipment provided with remote identification means, comprising a step of determining at least one target equipment requiring a maintenance operation, said target equipment belonging to a set of potential equipment located substantially in the same area, said remote identification means being passive and provided with an antenna allowing their remote reading, characterized in that it comprises a step of locating said target equipment, prior to carrying out said maintenance operation, said localization being carried out by means of reading means of remote identification of the set of potential equipment, so as to precisely locate said target equipment. The maintenance operation may consist of replacing the target equipment with replacement equipment, also equipped with a remote identification means. Knowing that there is generally a configuration file listing all the equipment present in the aircraft, with their identification, the method according to the invention comprises a step of automatically updating said configuration file, so as to record therein. the replacement of the target equipment by the replacement equipment. Generally, the remote identification means have a range less than or equal to ten centimeters. Advantageously, the remote identification means have a content comprising at least a unique serial number of the devices that comprise them. Advantageously, the method according to the invention comprises a step of automatically recording the contents of the remote identification means of the target device in the internal memory of a portable access terminal.
Advantageously, the remote identification means are RFID chips, for Radio Frequency IDentification according to the acronym English. Preferably, the remote identification means comprising an internal memory, the method according to the invention comprises a step of writing a summary of the maintenance operation performed in said internal memory of the means of remote identification of the target equipment. Advantageously, an aircraft maintenance support system may comprise means for implementing the method of assisting the maintenance of an aircraft according to the invention.
Advantageously, the portable access terminal comprises, in its internal memory, the content of the remote identification means of the target equipment, which, by comparison with the remote identification means of all the potential equipment. , the certain location of said target equipment. Advantageously, the remote reading device consists of an elongate handle comprising at one end means 25 for holding it in hand, and at the other end, remote reading means of remote identification means , allowing the reading of means of remote identification of all potential equipment, even located in areas difficult to access. Preferably, the maintenance aid system according to the invention comprises a device for writing data, allowing the writing of the summary of the maintenance operation carried out in the internal memory of the remote identification means. . In addition, the portable access terminal may allow automatic registration of the remote identification means of the target equipment.
Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent with the aid of the following description made with reference to the appended drawings which represent: FIG. 1: the overall diagram showing the initiation of a maintenance operation implemented according to the invention; FIG. 2: the schematic representation of the operation of the maintenance assistance system of an aircraft according to the invention; FIGS. 3a and 3b: two exemplary embodiments of the system for assisting the maintenance of an aircraft according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows a diagram illustrating access to a target equipment E supposed to require a maintenance operation. The equipment E being for example suspected of a failure, the TESTS module makes it possible to perform tests to confirm or deny said failure. On the other hand, most current equipment includes a built-in BITE test device, also called Built-In Tests Equipment in English, to perform or complete the tests defined through the TESTS module. The results of these various tests, as well as the information gathered during the flight, are saved in the NVM memory of the target equipment E. On the ground, all the elements recorded in the NVM memory of the equipment E can be downloaded to the device. centralized maintenance system CMC. This allows the maintenance personnel AME to make a diagnosis and decide whether or not to perform a maintenance operation on the equipment E. All the above elements are part of the state of the art. It is moreover known that it is possible to fix on the equipment, the subsystems of an aircraft, as indeed on the aircraft itself, RFID remote identification means, which can typically be RFID chips, for Radio Frequency Identification. In the context of the invention, these remote identification means are passive, limited in scope, less than ten centimeters, and are of course equipped with an antenna for remote reading.
According to the invention, the maintenance personnel now have a maintenance assistance system 1. This system 1 consists of a portable access terminal PMA and is provided with a means of reading means of maintenance. remote identification LECT, which can be an RFID reader, that is to say a device capable of remotely reading RFID chips, itself equipped with an antenna. The remote reading means LECT is connected to the portable access terminal PMA by a wired means. The maintenance personnel AME can connect, preferably wirelessly, the maintenance assistance system 1, and in particular the portable access terminal PMA, to the centralized maintenance system CMC in order to retrieve the information relating to the failure of the equipment E and identification of the target equipment E and save this information in the internal memory of said portable access terminal PMA. The identification of the target equipment consists, for example, in a unique serial number contained in the remote identification means that it comprises. However, as mentioned above, equipment E is often not directly identifiable by AME maintenance personnel, since it may be located within a set of potential equipment that may have similar physical characteristics. . According to the invention, the maintenance personnel can, by means of the remote reading means LECT, read the remote identification means of all the potential equipment to locate with certainty the target equipment E. The risk of human error of replacing a computer other than the failed one is thus greatly reduced.
In an example of a preferred implementation of the invention, the maintenance assistance system 1 may comprise, associated with the remote reading means LECT, a remote write means, and the remote identification means. equipped with the equipment of the aircraft may have an internal memory, allowing, via said remote write means, to save in said internal memory means for remote identification of the target equipment E a summary of the maintenance operation of which he was the object. In addition, since a configuration file is generally associated with any aircraft, the maintenance assistance system 1 according to the invention may preferably comprise means allowing the automatic saving in said configuration file of the modifications that have been made to said configuration of the aircraft. Such a configuration file classically lists the identifications of all the equipment that includes the aircraft. The maintenance assistance system 1 according to the invention can for example save in this configuration file the replacement of the target equipment E by a replacement equipment.
FIG. 2 very simply illustrates the operating principle of the maintenance assistance system 1 of an aircraft according to the invention. This maintenance aid system 1 may comprise, as we have seen, a wireless communication means W1, for example of WiFi type, with the centralized maintenance system CMC described in FIG. information about the failure of the target equipment E. The maintenance aid system 1 also has an HMI human-machine interface, located at the portable access terminal PMA described in Figure 1. This human-machine interface HMI machine allows AME maintenance personnel to interact with the remote reading means LECT. The latter, as has been explained, will make it possible to locate the target equipment E requiring a maintenance operation by means of the reading W2 of the RFID remote identification means of all the potential equipment, as this is described in Figure 1.
FIGS. 3a and 3b show two exemplary embodiments of a maintenance assistance system 1 according to the invention, and in particular two judicious arrangements of the remote reading means LECT. Thus, in a preferred example of the composition of the remote reading means LECT, shown in FIG. 3a, it comprises an elongate handle M1, presenting at one end a handle P1, allowing easy handling and at the other end, an antenna H1 for remote reading of remote identification means. This antenna H1 can advantageously also allow the writing of data in the internal memory of remote identification means. This configuration of the remote reading means LECT can be very advantageous to allow the location of a target equipment E located in a particularly difficult to access area, where access is painful. For example, to return to the example of the equipment integrated in the passenger seat structure presented at the beginning of the present application, the configuration of the remote reading means LECT presented in FIG. 3a makes it possible to review the various potential equipment, including those under said seats, without involving painful physical effort for maintenance personnel. FIG. 3b shows a second example of constitution of the remote reading means LECT simply presenting a short handle M2, allowing easy handling, to which is fixed a remote reading antenna of identification means such as RFID chips, as well as an H2 antenna.
In summary, it appears that the invention has the advantage of allowing the rapid and certain location of aircraft equipment requiring a maintenance operation, following a simple method. The invention also proposes a system for carrying out this method, as well as two particular embodiments of the remote reading means LECT.
