The present invention relates to a light or ultra-light vehicle with 2, 3 or 4 wheels driven by pedals, by one or more motors, or by the combination of pedals and one or more engines whose energy source can be for example the electric current. We know tricycles or quadricycles pedal bodied or not, with or without electric assistance also called trikes, kart pedals or velomobiles. They are very light machines, about 20 to 100 kg, of sporting use or transporting people or goods. These vehicles bodied or faired, usually have light walls of polyester or aluminum type and offer better protection, better aerodynamics and better comfort compared to non-faired vehicles. Their development is linked in particular to the savings sought on fossil fuel consumption for the movement of people and new behaviors aimed at reducing the weight, pollution and nuisance of vehicles. A number of industrial suppliers are starting to offer a choice of such gear. However, they remain fragile vis-à-vis the risks of car traffic. Also known are instant protection systems consisting of balloons that inflate very quickly after a shock to protect the passengers of a vehicle, also called airbags.
Canoes are also known consisting of inflatable tubes that are used for maritime survival or other propelled by outboard motors or other hovercraft type. It is also known to adapt caterpillars to light machines for use on snow according to the patent application filed with INPI under No. 08/05899. As will be developed further, the invention proposes a new concept of light vehicle that permanently combines the protection of a body, the shock absorption of an airbag and the benefits of an inflatable boat. A snowmobile type of adaptation mode is also described in a variant. Finally, several types of human positions are known for light two-seater machines: side by side, which imposes a large width on the vehicle penalizing the aerodynamic factor, or in a row one behind the other, less wide with a better aerodynamic factor. but a long longitudinal length and inertia. The invention incidentally provides an original position of two persons to give a tandem craft the same reduced width as the position one behind the other while significantly reducing the length.
The technical solution proposed by the invention consists in producing a machine with 2, 3 or 4 wheels light or ultra light comprising a rigid structure, metal or other, for example fiber reinforced composite material, to which are attached elements or strands inflatable external body forming (or fairing), and to effectively protect both people on board and people or goods outside the machine in case of shock. In the event of an accident between the vehicle and an object or a pedestrian, the inflated tubes will cushion the shock as well on the person on board as the object or the pedestrian, without any damage to be deplored on the gear itself because of the flexibility of its outer shell that will resume its original shape after the shock.
Figure 1 shows a side section of a machine according to the invention. Figure 2 shows in plan a machine according to the invention. Figure 3 shows a side section on the crawler gear for use on low lift terrain. Figure 4 shows a side section of a machine according to the invention in maneuver on water. Figure 5 shows in side section the machine equipped with a box (21) for transporting the goods. In an embodiment according to the invention illustrated by Figures 1 and 2, there is a rigid structure (1) of a conventional tricycle, with rear wheel drive (5) and two front wheels (11); a pilot (2) is installed in so-called pedaling position, a passenger (3) is installed in a sitting position back to the driver. Fixed on the rigid structure (1) an outer inflatable structure forming bodywork or flexible fairing, consisting of rolls (4) of fabric impregnated with rubber. These inflatable tubes (4: 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e) are arranged around the structure (1), the driver (2) and the passenger (3). The driving wheel (5) is driven by the pedal (6). An auxiliary pedal (7) allows the passenger to participate in the propulsion. The useful space of rotation of the two directional wheels (11) delimits a rear portion of the U-shaped flanges (4a) enclosing the rear of the craft and the two rear sides, and a front portion (4b) arranged U-shaped enclosing the front of the craft and the two front sides. This advantageous arrangement allows to leave free the space of rotation of the directional wheels (11) inside a volume protected by the two front and rear parts (4a and 4b) of the inflatable tubes, while maintaining a moderate width to gear. An additional advantage according to the invention provides that the passenger (3) is facing the rear of the vehicle with a seat located substantially at height and near the nape of the driver (2), so as to reduce as much as possible the length of the vehicle and bring the center of gravity resulting from the occupants closer to that of the driver: this configuration improves the compactness of the vehicle and its handling. A flange (4c) is supported on the front portion (4b) of the flanges (4) and is disposed on either side of the pilot (2). A flange (4d) forms a headrest to the pilot (2) and a seat to the passenger (3), located at height and near the nape of the driver. A roll (4 e) comes to form a rollbar around the passenger (3). In case of absence of passenger, this flange (4 e) can be deflated to reduce wind resistance. An advantageous arrangement according to the invention consists in that at least one of the strands (4) is removable from the main structure (1), so as to be able to separate them for easy transport. The main pedal (6) allows the pilot to drive the vehicle, while an auxiliary pedal (7) serves the passenger to participate in the training effort via a transmission system not shown on the FIGS. A light structure (14), for example consisting of a canvas stretched between two aluminum uprights, can be added to provide a more comfortable seat to the passenger. A photovoltaic panel (8) can be installed on the machine and connected to a battery supplying an auxiliary electric motor (not shown in the figures for simplicity of reading). In a variant according to the invention, not shown in the figures, a reserve of compressed air is used to supply an auxiliary engine with compressed air. In one embodiment according to the invention illustrated in FIG. 3, the machine is equipped with tracks (9) mounted on a secondary structure (10) installed on the rigid structure (1). The power take-off of the tracks is carried out by means of rollers (16) and two short skis (12) are fixed on the directional wheels (11).
In one embodiment according to the invention illustrated in FIG. 4, the flanges (4a and 4b) ensure the buoyancy of the vehicle during an evolution on the water. In this case, the drive wheel (5) can be equipped with small vanes (13) fixed to the rim, so that its rotational movement operates a flapping blades with propulsive effect, directional wheels (II). solid improving the rudder effect compared to spoke wheels. A propeller (15: 15a & 15b) can be positioned in the disengaged position (15a) or engaged (15b) with a power take-off by means of a roller or roller (16) coming to take up its frictional movement on the wheel motor (5). An angle gear, not shown here, ensures the transmission between the roller (16) of transverse axis and the propeller (15) of longitudinal axis. This angular gear can include a gear ratio system to optimize the speed of rotation between the propeller and the driving wheel. A simple and advantageous arrangement according to the invention provides a pivot (17) around which is articulated the shaft (18) of the propeller (15), ensuring the passage between the disengaged position (15a) and the engaged position (15b) using a handle (19). For the clarity of Figure 4, only the engaged position (15b) is shown, the engaged positions (15b) and disengaged (15a) are shown in Figure 1. In an embodiment according to the invention illustrated in Figure 5 , the machine is equipped with a box (21) which can be advantageously made using lightweight aluminum panels, to transport and deliver quietly and pollution-free light goods, for example in city centers with narrow lanes. This embodiment makes it possible to use the upper part (20) of the box (21) to enlarge the area available for photovoltaic panels.
In an alternative embodiment of the invention, assistance by electric motor can be advantageously replaced by a compressed air motor or any other source of energy. It is easily understood that the presence of a reserve or a source of compressed air may be advantageous for inflating or inflating the inflatable tubes.
