Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an assistance module for power steering of a motor vehicle. A conventional assistance module comprises, inside a casing, an input shaft and an output member, such as a pinion or an output shaft, rotatably mounted substantially along a common axis and connected by means of a housing. intermediate of a torsion bar disposed along said axis, the input shaft being guided in rotation in the housing by an outer bearing, and in the output member by an inner bearing. For certain types of power steering, especially for hydraulic power steering, the output member is a pinion intended to engage with a rack of the steering. In the case of a hydraulic power steering, the assistance module constitutes an assistance valve. For other types of power steering, the output member is an output shaft intended to be coupled with an intermediate shaft, itself coupled with a pinion engaging with a rack of the direction. In a motor vehicle power steering, the torque or assistance effort provided by the power steering to relieve the driver of the vehicle is dependent on the torque exerted by the driver on the steering wheel of the vehicle, also referred to as steering wheel torque. . For this purpose, the steering wheel torque is determined by measuring the relative rotation between the input shaft and the output member. Such a support module requires the realization of a clearance between the input shaft and the inner bearing so as to limit the friction between these two elements in order to accurately determine the steering wheel torque. However, under certain vehicle running conditions, the input shaft of such an assistance module is capable of generating noise and vibrations related to its parasitic movements authorized by this game.
The present invention aims to overcome these disadvantages, and advantageously it consists in providing an assistance module for limiting the noise and vibrations generated by the input shaft, while maintaining negligible friction between the drive shaft. entrance and the inner landing.
To this end, the present invention relates to an assistance module for power steering of a motor vehicle, comprising, inside a housing, an input shaft and an output member, such as a pinion or a shaft of output, mounted substantially along a common axis and connected via a torsion bar disposed along said axis, the input shaft being guided in rotation in the housing by an outer bearing, and in the body of output by an inner bearing, characterized in that elastic damping means are arranged between the input shaft and the inner bearing. The presence of these elastic damping means makes it possible on the one hand to reduce the clearance between the input shaft and the inner bearing and thus to limit the movements of the input shaft relative to the inner bearing, and on the other hand to dampen the displacement of the input shaft when it moves relative to the inner bearing. This results in a significant decrease in the noise and vibrations generated by the input shaft during its parasitic movements. Advantageously, the elastic damping means 15 comprise at least one elastic seal and the inner bearing or the input shaft comprises means for fixing each elastic seal. Preferably, the elastic seal is an annular seal. The means for fixing the elastic seal may comprise an annular groove formed on the input shaft or on the inner bearing and in which the elastic seal is mounted. In any case the invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows with reference to the appended schematic drawing showing, by way of non-limiting example, a form of execution of this assistance module. Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of an assistance module according to the invention. Figure 2 is an enlarged view of a detail A of Figure 1. Figure 1 shows a support module 2 for electric power steering on a motor vehicle pinion. The assistance motor 2 comprises a pinion 3 and an input shaft 4 rotatably mounted along a common axis B in a housing 5. The input shaft 4 and the pinion 3 are connected via a torsion bar 6 disposed inside the input shaft 4 along the axis B. One end of the torsion bar 6 is embedded in the pinion 35 3 while its other end is rotatably connected by a pin 7, with the outer end of the input shaft 4.
The pinion 3 is guided in rotation in the housing 5 by two rolling bearings 8, 9 while the input shaft 4 is guided in rotation in the housing 5 by an outer rolling bearing 11, and in the pinion 3 by an inner plain bearing 12.
The input shaft 4 is connected in rotation, by its end remote from the pinion 3, to the steering column (not shown) of the vehicle concerned, while the pinion 3 engages, at its end remote from the shaft input 4, with a rack (not shown) of the direction. As shown more particularly in FIG. 2, elastic damping means 10 are arranged between the input shaft 4 and the inner bearing 12. These elastic damping means comprise an elastic annular seal 13 disposed in an annular groove 14 arranged on the outer surface of the input shaft 4.
It should be noted that the depth of the annular groove 14 and the diameter of the annular seal 13 are defined so that the annular seal 13 protrudes out of the annular groove 14 when the annular groove 14 is mounted in the annular groove 14 According to one embodiment of the invention, the annular seal 13 is an O-ring. As goes without saying, the invention is not limited to the sole embodiment of this assistance module, described above as an example, it encompasses all the variants of embodiment and application respecting the same principle. Thus, in particular, the annular groove 14 could be formed on the inner surface of the inner bearing 12. Similarly, the assistance module according to the invention could be used for any type of assisted steering, whether this be electric, hydraulic or other, adapting the output member. In particular, in the case of an electric power steering column, the output member would not be a pinion but an output shaft 30, coupled to an intermediate shaft.
