La présente invention est relative à une poignée ergonomique, notammentThe present invention relates to an ergonomic handle, in particular
The conventional handles of the foils, swords or sabers, said straight handles, are substantially cylindrical and mounted axially on the silk, that is to say in the axis of the blade. To take them in hand, the handle must be placed in the hollow of the hand, parallel to the folds of it, so that when the hand is tightened by the closed fingers, the shooter must direct his hand towards the opponent so to be able to present the weapon in the guard position. This wrist position is tiring and harms accuracy. In addition, the handle must be held very firmly to prevent any movement of the grip, further increasing the inaccuracy. Ergonomic handles, called orthopedic handles, have been proposed to improve the maintenance of the weapon during the practice of fencing, thanks to a shaped body shaped with finger stop lugs. However, the solutions currently proposed have obtained this improvement of the maintenance to the detriment of the precision of the gestures.
The invention aims to provide both a very good grip of the handle and a gesture accuracy comparable to that provided by conventional straight handles. To this end, the subject of the invention is an ergonomic handle, characterized in that it comprises an elongated body which comprises: on a first side, a first bearing surface for the thumb; 2 - on a second side opposite said first side, a second bearing surface for the other four fingers; two proximal and distal lugs protruding from said second bearing surface, these two lugs delimiting between them a housing for receiving the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger; the distal lug being adapted to form a rear stop of the forefinger and a forward stop of the middle finger, and the proximal lug being adapted to form a rear stop of the little finger. According to other characteristics of the handle according to the invention: the conformation of the body is such that the first phalanx of the middle finger, the ring finger and the little finger is applied to said second bearing surface when the hand is closed again on the handle. said first bearing surface has, in its rear region, a concave surface adapted to support the thenar eminence of the thumb, then, in the forward extension thereof, a convex surface adapted to the support of the first phalanx of the thumb; said first bearing surface comprises, at the front of said convex surface, a recess for supporting the pulp of the second phalanx of the thumb; each lug has a substantially semicircular finger abutment surface that terminates in the second bearing surface; the body has in its front end portion a third bearing surface connecting said first and second bearing surfaces, this third bearing surface being adapted to serve as support for the index finger in extended position; the third bearing surface comprises a recess for receiving the pulp of the last phalanx of the index finger in extended position; the body has, on at least most of its length, a substantially square or rectangular cross-section; and the body is symmetrical with respect to a common median plane of said first and second bearing surfaces. The invention also relates to a weapon for the practice of fencing such as a sword, foil or saber, characterized in that it comprises a handle as defined above. Embodiments of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: - Figure 1 shows in axial longitudinal section an ergonomic handle according to the invention, equipping a sword or a foil; Figures 2 and 3 are end views of the handle of Figure 1 taken respectively along arrows II and III of Figure 1; and Figures 4 and 5 are side views of two variants of the handle of Figure 1. Figures 1 to 3 show a fencing weapon 1 consisting of a sword or a foil. This weapon consists of: a blade 2 provided at its proximal end or rear of a silk 3; a handle 4; and a shell 5. The blade and the shell are illustrated very schematically because they are conventional. Silk 3, for its part, is also conventional: it comprises a distal or front portion 6 with a non-circular section, for example square, and a proximal or rear portion 7 with a circular section. The proximal end portion of the floss is threaded and receives a washer 8 and a clamping nut 9. The handle 4 consists of an elongate body traversed right through by a longitudinal bore 10 of axis X-X. This bore comprises a distal portion 11 of non-circular section conjugate with that of the front portion 6 of the silk (Figure 2), and a proximal portion 12 of circular section of diameter slightly greater than that of the rear portion of the silk. A counterbore 13 is provided at the proximal end of the bore to receive the washer 8 (Figure 3). Over most of its length, the body has a cross section of generally rectangular shape with rounded corners, so as to define, in the position shown in Figures 1 to 3, an upper bearing surface 14, a bearing surface lower and two substantially vertical side surfaces 16 which connect the upper and lower surfaces. The body is symmetrical with respect to a vertical median plane P passing through the X-X axis. The upper surface 14 is a bearing surface for the thumb. It has, from the back to the front, a concave region 17, a convex region 18 and a substantially flat and horizontal region 19 provided with a shallow recess 20. The lower surface 15 is a bearing surface for the four fingers of the hand. Two lugs protrude downwardly on this surface: a rear lug 21, located at the rear end of the handle, and an intermediate lug 22, located slightly in front of the mid-length of the handle. The rear lug 21 is slightly higher than the intermediate lug 22.
Between the two lugs is delimited a housing 23 adapted to receive the major, the annular and the little finger. This housing, whose bottom 24 is slightly convex, terminates at the rear by an approximately semicircular surface 25 which, in its rear part, forms the front face of the lug 21. At the front, the housing 23 terminates in a rounded substantially quarter-circle 26 which is connected to the rear face of the lug 22, which is inclined downwards and forwards at about 45.
At the front of the lug 22 is delimited a housing 27 for the index. This housing is defined by a substantially semicircular surface which starts from the lower surface 15 and forms the front surface of the lug 22. To mount the weapon, the floss 3 is threaded into the bore 10 from forward to the rear, until its front portion 6 abuts against the shoulder 28 which limits the front portion 11 of the piercing 10. The rear end of the silk then emerges in the counterbore 13, which allows to fix the silk to the handle by means of the washer 8 and the nut 9 (or, alternatively, a knob balancing the weapon). The shell 5, for its part, is conventionally attached to the front end of the handle. When the user grasps the handle, for example with the right hand as schematically illustrated in FIG. 1, the inside face of his thumb follows the upper bearing surface over substantially its entire length: the thenar eminence matches the concave surface 17 , the upper-posterior corner 29 of the handle resting in the hollow of the palm, the first phalanx matches the convex surface 18, and the pulp of the second phalanx is received in the recess 20. The other four fingers close again around the body, the index finger in front of the lug 22 and the other three fingers between the two lugs 21 and 22. The second phalanx of the index finger is received in the front housing 27, resting on the semicircular surface of that -c, while the first phalanx of the other three fingers is applied to the bottom 24 of the rear housing 23. The first phalanx of the middle finger is applied to the front of this housing on the surface 26, while that of the little finger applies, to the back, on the surface 25. Thus, the hand is well closed on the handle, at a short distance from the axis XX, as in the case of a conventional handle with circular section, and, in addition, a firm hold comfortable is provided by the three axial stops formed by the two pins. The upper recess 20 provides extra support and comfort, as well as the presence of two side surfaces 16 substantially flat and vertical. Thanks to the symmetry of the handle, it is suitable for both right-handed and left-handed users. In the example of Figures 1 to 3, the rear face of the lug also forms the rear face of the handle. For a given overall length, alternatively, the lug 21 can be brought closer to the lug 22 to adapt the handle to a smaller hand size. Thus, for a medium-sized hand (FIG. 4), the rear end portion of the handle is constituted by an appendage 30 of approximately rectangular section, this appendix being longer for a small hand (FIG. 5). . The conformation of the upper surface 14 is then modified accordingly. Alternatively, particularly in the case of a sword handle, as shown in phantom in Figures 1 and 2, the front portion of the handle, in front of the front housing 27, has in each side face a recess 31 shallow . Thus, the user can either have his index in the housing 27, as before, or put his index finger in extension, with the pulp of the third phalanx of the index rest in the lateral recess 31 corresponding to its grip. For some weapons, for example the sword, which do not involve the extension of the index, the front portion of the handle is shortened and the recesses 31 are useless. However, to facilitate the manufacture of handles adapted to the various types of weapons, it is possible for each handle size, a single version with long front portion provided with the recesses 31, this front portion being simply shortened by cutting for the equipment aforementioned weapons. The body may be made of any suitable material: optionally coated metal, or an optionally coated plastics material.
