Description

1 COUVRE CULASSE DE MOTEUR A COMBUSTION INTERNE ET MOTEUR COMPORTANT UNE1 HEAD COVER OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE AND ENGINE COMPRISING A

The invention relates to the cylinder head covers of internal combustion engines, such as those used in motor vehicles, and in particular those that use a vacuum source to operate one of the auxiliary devices of the vehicle or the engine device. In particular, the braking assistance system requiring a source of vacuum or partial vacuum is considered. In motor vehicles, it is very common to use brake assist systems requiring a source of depression, or even partial vacuum. It is common to use the depressions created by the flow of exhaust gases to create part or all of this type of depression. However, many types of vehicles use a pump driven by the traction motor. More specifically, it is customary to drive such a vacuum pump by the camshaft of the engine. Indeed, with reference to Figure 1, a current technique is to fix the vacuum pump 1 on a flange 4 itself fixed on the engine, and more exactly on the cylinder head cover 5, placed itself on the cylinder head 2 of the motor. The flange 4 relating to a defined vacuum pump is specific to each existing engine. In other words, there are as many different types of flanges as different types of engine on which a vacuum pump is to be attached. On the other hand, the body of the vacuum pump 1 is standard, the supplier of the vacuum pump 1 creating a specific flange 4 for each engine. The vacuum pump assembly 3 / flange 4 is therefore supplied by the supplier and is ready to be fixed on the cylinder head 2 and the cylinder head cover 5 of the engine. These two parts constituted by the flange 4 and the vacuum pump 1 are therefore placed in extension of the camshaft, not shown in this FIG. 1 and lying under the cylinder head cover 5. These generate a large bulk, as well that extra cost of manufacturing due to, inter alia, the manufacture of a flange specific to each engine.

On the other hand, US Pat. No. 5,551,389 discloses an internal combustion engine comprising, at the tip of the camshaft, an oil pump integrated into the engine casing and more precisely the engine. wall of the cylinder head. The rotor of the oil pump is therefore in the engine block 5, a plug closing an access hole with a diameter greater than the diameter of the rotor of the pump. However, such an oil pump can not be compared with the vacuum pump which is in question for use in a brake assist system. The object of the invention is therefore to remedy the present situation and the disadvantages inherent thereto. For this purpose, the main object of the invention is a cylinder head cover comprising, inter alia, a camshaft mounted rotating in the cylinder head cover. According to the invention, the cylinder head cover comprises the vacuum pump which is integrated, thanks to a recess formed in the cylinder head cover at the end of the camshaft, the camshaft directly driving a rotor of the vacuum pump. . In the main embodiment of the invention, the rotor of the vacuum pump is mounted on the end of the camshaft.

To complete the assembly, a cover is preferably used to close the assembly at the completed recess with a seal. In this case, it is interesting to mount a vacuum nozzle on the vacuum pump on the lid.

The invention also relates to an engine comprising such a cylinder head cover. The invention and its various technical features will be better understood on reading the following description, illustrated by three figures in which: FIG. 1 is a side view showing a motor according to the prior art, FIG. a view from below of the cylinder head cover according to the invention on which the vacuum pump is placed; FIG. 3 is a completely exploded view of the cylinder head cover. FIG. 2 represents the underside of the cylinder head cover 15 of the engine comprising the vacuum pump 3. The latter covers a cylinder head 2 shown in FIG. 3. In the end part of the cylinder head cover 15, more precisely on the right of that represented on this Figure 13 is a recess 13 formed in the cylinder head cover 15, located opposite and at the end of the camshaft 20, eccentrically about the axis thereof for the geometry requirements of a Such a vacuum pump 3. The volume of this recess 13 is sufficient to contain the volume swept by the rotary assembly of the vacuum pump 3. The rotary assembly of the vacuum pump 3 consists more precisely of a rotor 11 carrying at least one pallet 10 which constitutes the active element of the pump 3. This rotating assembly is mounted directly on the camshaft 20, and more precisely on its tip. The camshaft 20 thus directly drives the vacuum pump 3. This mounting can be achieved by fretting the rotor 11 and the pallet 10 of the vacuum pump on the end of the camshaft 20. The volume of the recess 13 is also deep enough to contain this rotating assembly, without it exceeding the volume of the cylinder head cover 15. The assembly is completed by a cover 16 placed at the outer end of the recess 13, way to close the latter with respect to the outside. A vacuum nozzle 17 for using the vacuum pump 3 is fixed directly on this lid 16. Fastening screws 18 serve to hold the lid 16 fixed to the cylinder head cover 15. The pallet 10 is separated from the rotor 11. A seal 21 is placed between the cylinder head cover 15 and the cover 16. It can be seen that, in this embodiment, the cylinder head cover 30 acts as a flange, in comparison with the embodiment of the prior art, 2909418 4 This has the advantage of standardizing all flanges to a single design, that is to say that of the cylinder head cover 15. The fact of using only one insert, namely the lid 16 , on the cylinder head cover 15, allows to use only one sealing element, namely the seal 21, instead of two in the embodiment of the prior art. It is therefore understood that the size of the motor is greatly reduced, due to the removal of the flange. As a result, the price and mass of parts purchased from the supplier are also greatly reduced.

An additional advantage is that the cylinder head cover 15 is a part on which is mounted at least one camshaft 20, that which drives the vacuum pump 3. Thus, by integrating the vacuum pump 3 into the cylinder head cover 15, one has a set of cylinder head cover 15 comprising at least one camshaft 20 rotatably mounted in the cylinder head cover 15 and a vacuum pump 3, and 15 this set is ready to mount on the engine, thus saving time final assembly of the engine.
