Abstract

The brake has a yoke with upstream and downstream arms (21, 22) receiving support ends of brake pads and guiding displacement of the pads perpendicular to brake surfaces of a brake disc. A caliper (3) is slidably mounted with respect to the yoke along a direction perpendicular to the surfaces and applies a pressure force on supports of the pads to hold the disc. The caliper has lateral ends (31, 32) including guiding/support surfaces (33, 34) sliding against one arm, and with support pads mounted between the caliper and the arms by sliding along a direction perpendicular to the brake surfaces.

Description

1 L'invention concerne un frein à disque et notamment un frein à disque1 The invention relates to a disc brake and in particular a disc brake

flottant. Figures 1 and 2 show an example of a disk brake known in the art.

This disc brake comprises a yoke 2 which is fixed to the vehicle and which overlaps a brake disc 1 shown in phantom in FIG. 1. If one considers the direction of rotation D of the disc, the yoke 2 comprises an upstream branch 21 and a downstream branch 22 which overlap the disk 1. The face 12 of the disc visible in Figure 1 is the outer face of the disk that is to say the face of the disk which is oriented towards the outside of the vehicle. The branches 21 and 22 comprise housings 23 and 24 in which brake pad holders are mounted on each side of the disc. In Figure 1, we see the outer brake pad support 52 which is mounted in the housing 23 and 24 of the outer portions of the legs 21 and 22 of the yoke. The brake pad holders can move in the housings 23 and 24 perpendicular to the plane of the disc 1. The stirrup 3 overlaps the disc 1 and has an inner part 30 (FIG. 2) and an outer part 35/36 (FIG. 1). The outer portion 35/36 has two branches 35 and 36. These branches 35 and 36 have the function of pressing the outer brake pad support 52 perpendicular to the plane of the disk and the inner part 2903161 has the function to support The caliper 3 is mounted on the clevis such that it is movable in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the disc. For this, as described in the patent application EP / 2776352, the yoke has at least one column which can slide in a bore of the yoke. An example of a column / bore assembly is visible in Figure 2. The posts 42 and 43 are screwed into the yoke and bores 42 and 44 of the caliper can slide on these posts. This mounting columns / bores. is located in the inner part of the disc brake.

Under these conditions, the outer part of the stirrup visible in FIG. 1 is guided only because of the guiding of the inner part. The outer part of the yoke is therefore in cantilever on the assembly of columns / bores of the yoke.

In addition to this overhang, the stirrup supports driving forces when, during braking, the brake pads come into contact with the disc 1. The invention thus relates to a system making it possible to remedy this drawback. and to stiffen the entire disc brake. The invention therefore relates to a vehicle disc brake comprising: a yoke which is fixed to the vehicle and which comprises an upstream branch and a downstream branch. These branches are intended to overlap a brake disc and receive ends of 2903161 3 brake pads to guide their movement perpendicular to the brake surfaces of the disc, - a stirrup which is intended to overlap the disc and which is slidably mounted relative to the yoke in a direction perpendicular to the braking surfaces of the disc. This caliper makes it possible to apply pressure forces on the brake pad supports to grip the brake disk. According to the invention, the caliper comprises ,. at least one of its ends, at least one guiding device slidable against an upstream or downstream leg of the yoke. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the two ends of the stirrup located on either side thereof in a plane parallel to the braking surfaces of the disc comprise two sliding guide devices. against the upstream and downstream branches of the screed. Also, preferably, these two guiding devices are located on either side of the two upstream and downstream branches of the yoke. With the yoke having an inner portion and an outer portion respectively on the inner side and the outer side of the vehicle, the invention preferably provides that each guide device is located in the outer portion of the yoke. According to one embodiment, the guiding devices are connected to the central part of the stirrup by connecting branches.

It can then be advantageously provided that the yoke does not have an external handle connecting the two branches upstream and downstream contrary to what is commonly done in the art. This will allow the passage of the branches of connection indicated previously. According to an alternative embodiment, the guiding devices comprise bearing pads located between the yoke and the upstream and downstream branches of the yoke. Advantageously, these bearing pads are mounted between the yoke and the upstream and downstream branches of the yoke, by sliding in a direction perpendicular to the braking surfaces of the disk. The various objects and characteristics of the invention will appear more clearly in the description which follows and in the appended figures which represent: FIGS. 1 and 2, a disc brake known in the art and already described in the foregoing, FIGS. 3a and 3b, a simplified exemplary embodiment of the disk brake according to the invention, FIG. 4, an alternative embodiment of the disk brake according to the invention, FIG. 5, another variant embodiment. of a disk brake according to the invention. Referring to FIGS. 3a and 3b, an exemplary embodiment of a disk brake according to the invention will be described. In these figures there is shown the yoke 3, the upstream and downstream branches 21 and 22 of the yoke and the brake pad supports 51 and 52.

Ears such as 53 and 54 brake pad holders slide in housings 23 and 24 of the upstream and downstream branches 21 and 22 of the yoke. As explained in connection with FIG. 2, the stirrup 3 slides on small columns (not shown in FIG. 3a) attached to the yoke. These columns are on the side noted INT in Figure 3b. When braking, the brake pad holders tend to be driven by the brake disc.

Ces surfaces sont localisées au moins du côté EXT (voir figure 3b) de façon à empêcher tout déplacement de l'étrier selon la direction F.The part of the stirrup on the side marked EXT in Figure 3b is less well guided than the part on the INT side. To improve this guidance, the invention provides to provide the stirrup with guiding devices located in particular on the EXT side and which rest on the branches 15 upstream and downstream 21 and 22. The stirrup according to the invention thus has ends lateral 31 and 32 which extend on either side of the upstream and downstream branches. The lateral ends have bearing and guiding surfaces 33 and 34 which bear respectively on the surfaces 25 and 26 of the upstream and downstream branches 21 and 22. These surfaces are located at least on the EXT side (see FIG. 3b). so as to prevent any movement of the stirrup in direction F.

If the stirrup is guided by columns located on the INT side as previously described, the surfaces 33 and 34 provided in FIG. 3b suffice to prevent movement of the stirrup in the direction F and thus to stiffen the stirrup. caliper / clevis assembly.

10 15 20 25However according to an alternative embodiment not shown, the surfaces 33 and 34 could have lengths in the direction XX 'allowing them to rely on almost the entire length of the upstream and downstream branches of the yoke. Furthermore, in the embodiment of FIGS. 3a and 3b, the two lateral ends 31 and 32 of the yoke are connected by connecting branches such as 37 and 38. This contributes to stiffening the yoke / yoke assembly. . To allow the passage of these connecting branches, the yoke does not then have an outer handle such as the outer handle 29 visible in Figure 1 Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment in which there is provided springs 27 and 28 allowing cushion the movements of the lugs 53 and 54 of the brake pad holders in the housings 23 and 24 of the yoke. These springs partially surround the upstream and downstream branches but do not constitute an inconvenience for the realization of the invention. According to this variant embodiment, the surfaces 33 and 34 then rest on the springs. FIG. 5 represents another variant embodiment in which intermediate parts or bearing pads 61 and 62 located between the upstream and downstream branches 21 and 22 and the lateral ends 31 and 32 of the yoke are provided. These pads can be put in place by sliding after the stirrup has been mounted on the yoke. These pads surround a circumferential portion of the upstream and downstream branches. They have ribs 63 and 64 which slide in grooves provided in the lateral ends 31 and 32 of the yoke. In this way, the pads prevent withdrawal (in a vertical direction in Figure 5) of the yoke. These pads may be of such material that they reduce friction between the yoke and the yoke. 10 15 20 25
