BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION As represented by the tool according to the invention, for the stripping of the end of the electric cables, comprises on the one hand a cylindrical tubular body 1 provided along its longitudinal axis with a through bore cylindrical 2 and a cutting blade 3 penetrating by at least its cutting edge 30 in the through bore 2. On the other hand the tool is equipped with at least one cylindrical sleeve 4 for guiding the cable relative to the blade cutter 3, this sleeve being intended to be mounted and removably fixed in said through bore and in front of the cutting blade 3, and having a through bore 40 of guide in which is engaged the cable to be stripped, the diameter of the bore corresponding to the diameter of the cable. In addition, to ensure good guidance, the length of the bore will preferably be greater than 0.8 times the outer diameter of the cable. The tubular body 1, behind the location intended to receive the guide bushing of the cable is provided with a radial opening 5 opening into the through bore 2, in which is mounted in fixing the cutting blade 3. This opening allows during the stripping operation of the cable, the evacuation to the outside of the chip tool formed during cutting. The radial opening 5 comprises in particular two bearing faces 50, 51, flat, normal to each other, against which is applied with clamping the cutting blade. The first 50 of these bearing faces is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the tool, the cutting edge 30 of the cutting blade being positioned parallel to this first bearing face 50. The cutting blade is present is in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped with a bevelled face to form the cutting edge 30. As can be seen this cutting blade has two large flat faces parallel to each other, the first, with a bevelled front face, forms the cutting edge 30. Opposite the cutting edge, the cutting blade has a rear edge. Finally, the cutting blade has two lateral edges perpendicular to the two large faces.
This cutting blade 3 is firmly applied against the two bearing faces 50, 51 by a flange 6 having behind the blade, a ramp 60 adapted to facilitate the evacuation of the chip.
Advantageously, the flange 6 comprises a through bore designed to receive a locking screw 65 intended to be engaged by screwing in a blind tapping made in the tubular body 1 and opening into the second bearing face 51 that includes the radial opening 5 .
The flange 6 has a flat lateral face 61 secured to bear against the second large flat face of the cutting blade 3. Additionally, the flange 6, opposite the flat side wall 61 has a bearing heel 62 subject to bear against the second bearing face 51 under the effect of the tightening of the locking screw 65. The combination of the clamping force and the heel support on the surface 51 urges the flange tilt against the cutting blade whereby the latter is firmly applied against the first bearing surface 50. In addition the fixing flange is provided with a bearing lip 63 subject to come under the effect of the effort of clamping against the free lateral side of the cutting blade whereby the latter not its other side edge is firmly applied against the second bearing face 51. Advantageously the tool according to the invention is provided with a set of guide bushings 4, these bushings being distinguished from each other others by the diameter of the guide bore 40 as well as by the distance e between the longitudinal axis of this diameter and the axis of revolution of the sleeve, preferably the other dimensions remaining identical. Each bushing 4 is suitable for guiding a cable of a given diameter and of a given insulation thickness. It is therefore possible with a single tool to strip an extended range. Each guide sleeve 4 has an external positioning surface 41 by which it is fitted and positioned in the tubular body and in front of the cutting blade, in a suitable housing. formed in said bore and having a shape complementary to that of the positioning seat 41. According to the preferred embodiment, the positioning range is of cylindrical shape. Still according to the preferred embodiment, the housing provided to receive the sleeve 4 and the positioning range that comprises the latter, is constituted by a cylindrical counterbore formed in the through bore in front of the radial opening. In order to removably lock the sleeve 4 in the housing of the tubular body, there is provided a set screw 43 engaged in a radial through thread formed in the tubular body 1 and opening into the counterbore. Furthermore, the sleeve is provided with a blind radial recess 42 intended to receive the end of the needle screw. This arrangement ensures both the fixing and the precise positioning of the sleeve 4 in the tubular body and consequently the precise positioning of the guide bore 40 relative to the cutting blade 3. Advantageously, the tool according to the The invention comprises means for adjusting the stripping length by adjusting the maximum degree of penetration of the cable into the tubular body. This adjustment means is preferably constituted by a rod 7, axial to the tubular body 1, the degree of penetration into the through bore of said tubular body is adjustable. This rod 7 is slidably mounted in the through bore of a guide end 8 fixed at the rear end of the tubular body 1, the cable being brought into abutment in the through bore 2 against the end of said rod 7 .
To lock the rod 7 in position, the guide tip will be provided with a clamping pad 9 pressurized against the rod 7 by a clamping screw 90. This clamping plug 9 will be mounted in a radial housing at the through bore that includes the guide tip 8 and opening into the latter. The clamping screw 90 is engaged by screwing in a radial tapping made in the guide nozzle 8 in a manner that opens into the housing of the clamping plug 9. A graduated scale 70 will be formed on the rod 7 so as to facilitate the adjustment of the stripping length of the cable. Lastly, to facilitate maneuvering the operation of the tool, the rod 7 at the rear end may comprise a handle shape 71 through which a torque will be transmitted to the rod and to the tool.
10 To prevent the rotation of its rod relative to the tubular body, the rod 7 will be provided with a longitudinal flat 72 against which the clamping pad will be brought under pressure. According to an alternative embodiment, the tool is no longer equipped with a rod 7 5 but the tubular body at the rear part is equipped with a second cutting blade and can receive a second guide sleeve. It goes without saying that the present invention may receive any arrangements and variants of the field of technical equivalents without departing from the scope of this patent. 10
