Abstract

The automated fabrication of cylindrical metal containers, incorporating a crimped bottom, comprises: (A) taking a metal sleeve (V) which is maintained vertical; (B) trimming the upper end to form the circumference of a lip or flange; (C) mechanically distributing and positioning a metal disk on this lip; (D) mechanically crimping the metal disk to the lip to form the bottom of the container; (E) turning the container over after crimping; (F) expanding the body of the container by inserting a mechanical expansion tool (141) to increase the diameter of the container. An independent claim is also included for the automated fabrication line using this method.
