Abstract

The method involves choosing pinions teeth (10a, 10b, 11a, 11b) having a curved contact path. Variation of fluid volume confined between two consecutive teeth of two pinions (10, 11) meshed with each other is reduced. Relation between the confined volume and the curvature of the contact path is examined. The profile of the teeth is established from the chosen contact path. An independent claim is also included for a gear pump.
