Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a marking on heat resistant materials such as ceramic, glass or metal. The marking is a permanent marking of the type made from mineral powders.
L' invention couvre aussi le dispositif associé. The invention also covers the associated device.
There is a strong demand for permanent markings on products made from materials such as ceramic, glass or metal. The needs of marking have very varied applications. A first application is the decoration of objects with patterns in colors following graphic representations. We can mention the decoration of ceramic objects for special ceremonies for small series but also the decoration for large series such as in the field of flacon or culinary. Another important industrial application is the marking of objects to affix references, numbers, marks, specific patterns having automatic recognition functions. In the automotive industry, windshields and glass panes receive such markings for identifications for automatically supplying vehicle windshield strings, for example.
In some cases, the decoration is eminently functional.
Thus, the windshields must have masking areas of the collages provided for mounting the windshields or the boundaries of glass areas transparent to the signal emissions such as badges.
Another constraint of these types of marking is the fact that it is necessary to make color applications because the monochrome is not enough for some applications.
It is known that it is possible to sinter mineral powder with a sufficient supply of heat, which makes it possible, by a sintering phenomenon, to fix the powder deposited on a support having the capacity to withstand such temperature rises, which is the case of glass, ceramic or metal. The problem that arises is the removal of the mineral powder and in this case the deposition of different powders of different colors in a given pattern having a high definition.
Thus, patent application EP No. 1,040,017 describes a marking method involving the use of a laser for sintering mineral powders on a suitable support such as glass, ceramic or metal. In this case, the one-component powder is deposited on the area to be marked and then with the aid of a controlled laser, localized sintering is performed according to a digitized marking profile and stored in the laser control means. Thus, the one-component powder is sintered only on the area subjected to the energy of the laser radiation.
The powder deposited in excess on the marking zone can then be removed since it has not been sintered and does not adhere to the surface. There then remains the pattern made by sintering the powder according to the pre-established profile.
It is understandable therefore that it would be difficult to achieve a multicolored pattern, especially if there is provided a superposition of said colors.
It is also known that it is possible to use mineral powders comprising pigments or colored glass frits. The advantage of the glass frits is to allow labeling at a lower temperature, but the disadvantage is that it is necessary to prepare such frits by prior melting of the colored glasses, cooling and grinding.
It is therefore more advantageous for industrial marking processes to be able to use mineral powders associated with pigments.
In addition, a marking method using such mineral powders may use glass frits if necessary.
Also the present invention provides a method of removal which allows a high definition, a deposit of different multi-composition powders, especially multi-colors, which is fast, which avoids the loss of material and which can be applied to different materials making the very numerous applications.
For this purpose, the method according to the present invention is now described in detail according to a particular, non-limiting embodiment.
The attached drawings show through the different figures: FIG. 1: a schematic view of a device adapted, FIGS. 2A and 2B: schematic views from above and in section of a pattern produced before being submitted to an input of energy.
The device for the implementation of the device, according to FIG. 1, comprises the following elements: a computer system 10 which provides control of at least one given marking pattern 12, possibly comprising several colors, each pattern of each color being memorized independently, means 14 for depositing at least one layer 16 of adhesive material capable of retaining mineral powder, means 18 for dispensing each mineral powder onto each layer 16 of corresponding adhesive material, immediately after removal, means 22 for immediately removing each of the mineral powders distributed in excess and not retained by the layer 16 of corresponding adhesive material.
Advantageously, the device comprises several heads, each with independent displacement, each integrating the means indicated above in the form of a nozzle 24 for depositing adhesive material, a nozzle 26 for spraying a given mineral powder, immediately into downstream of the removal of adhesive material and a suction nozzle 28 of the excess powder.
The parameters of the adhesive material are such that it retains its adhesion capacity during the deposition of the mineral powder during the passage of the projection nozzle 26 and loses its adhesion power from the deposited mineral powder. Thus a given amount of powder remains bound to the layer of adhesive material while the surplus and what is deposited outside the adhesive material remains free and independent of the bonded powder.
For an optimized implementation, the projections of adhesive material and powder can be simultaneous or even present a shift but extremely reduced.
Thus, polymerizing adhesives can be used under ultraviolet radiation by flashing or solvent based adhesives.
An example of a solvent-based adhesive comprises a combination of 70% monopropylene glycol 29.5% water and 0.5% surfactant. The viscosity ratio must be perfectly adapted to the nozzles 24 of removal.
During the passage of the suction nozzle 28, which can be shifted by a fraction of time greater than that which separates the passage of the nozzle 24 from depositing adhesive material and that of the nozzle 26 of depositing powder, the Excess powder that is not bonded to the glue is then aspirated. Such an arrangement avoids leaving powder of one color on areas susceptible to receive powder of another color.
As shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, there is: a first layer A of adhesive material including a mineral powder having a first color in a first pattern, in this case a broken line, and a second layer B adhesive material including a mineral powder b of a second color partially superimposed on the first in the areas concerned, if there is as in the example shown.
The possible superposition poses no problem since the first layer deposited is temporarily fixed by the adhesive material. Since the adhesive material of the first layer has lost its adhesion during removal of the second layer of adhesive, there is no mixing.
It should be noted that, if necessary, the deposition of layers of adhesive material can be effected by juxtaposition, the adhesive removal head 12 interrupting the removal at intersections for example, this under the order of the control means 10 .
Such a dispensing head may use means already applied in the case of inkjet printers. Such means make it possible to reach very precise definitions.
The piezo technology makes it possible to produce projected drops of the order of 100 μm in diameter leading to definitions of 200 dpi ("drop per inch" or "drop per inch").
Precision is increased with multichannel heads delivering drops of different volumes allowing step-downs, which leads to further improvement of the definition, up to 300 dpi.
Other types of heads still delivering droplets of different sizes, or drops of smaller size can further reduce the pixelation effect According to the invention, to achieve a marking of a given pattern comprising at least one part of a color, this on a temperature-resistant support, in particular ceramic, glass or metal, the method consists of successively performing the following different steps: a. depositing a layer of organic adhesive material, b. depositing a mineral powder comprising at least partly a pigment or a mixture of pigments, corresponding to a given color according to the part of the pattern of this color, c. supply of energy in sufficient quantity to sinter the mineral powder thus deposited on the support and to achieve complete degradation of the organic material constituting the adhesive material, and d. multiplication of steps a, b etc. as many times as there are colors provided to achieve the given pattern.
According to the method, and this preferably, it is also possible to provide energy in a single pass for all layers of deposited mineral powder. This saves time and energy. In this case, the process becomes: a '. depositing a layer of organic adhesive material, b '. depositing a mineral powder comprising at least partly a pigment or a mixture of pigments, corresponding to a given color according to the part of the pattern of this color, c '. multiplying the steps a ', and b' as many times as there are colors provided to achieve the given pattern, and d '. supply of energy in sufficient quantity to ensure simultaneous sintering of the mineral powders thus deposited on the support and to achieve complete degradation of the organic material constituting the adhesive material.
The removal of the various layers of adhesive material and mineral powder can be performed by means of several juxtaposed heads and successive working in a single pass.
The suction of each mineral powder in excess of each layer is effected by each corresponding suction nozzle.
Preferably and known, the surface must be prepared by a preliminary degreasing and / or anti-static treatment phase.
According to the method of the invention, the energy supply is preferably carried out by laser using a scanning of the surface incorporating the pattern.
Indeed, there are lasers for scanning large areas, so-called full-field scanning lasers.
In addition, in the case of mineral powders including at least one pigment, these pigments act as precursors of the sintering reaction, leading to a start of the reaction with lower energy contributions than if the mineral powder was used alone. .
A diode laser power of 50 Watts and a short infrared emission greater than 808 nanometers allow for example to provide enough energy to achieve sintering since only the mineral powder absorbs, the support is not subject to heating during an energy supply by laser radiation.
In the case of using a full-field scanning laser, the scanning line may be from 1 millimeter to several centimeters wide to give an idea.
In any case, the choice of the energy supply means is such that the power / surface ratio is sufficient to cause sintering.
An alternative to the energy input by a laser beam is a contribution by passage in an oven.
As for the removal of the excess mineral powder, it can be sucked but it is also possible to blow the powder and provide a centralized aspiration.
The pattern thus realized is perfectly adherent on the support, of a great general definition and a great definition in the colors, without degradation of the support and in the case of an energy supply by laser without even subjecting the support to a heater.
The process is fast, industrial and perfectly reproducible.
In an improved manner, the powders may include absorbents such as oxides, opacifiers and also fluidifiers to prevent agglomerates from forming. Thus a low-silica silica gel of the order of 0.5 to 2% can significantly improve the quality of the fluidized bed of the spray means. The fluidizer may also have another role, that of simultaneously improving the wettability of the powder and thus lead to a better integration of the powder in the adhesive material.
