Abstract

The method involves exciting a dye, having two different concentrations in a solvent, using an electromagnetic radiation. The photoluminescence of the excited dye and fluorescence signal transmission through a cell (20) containing the dye are measured. The measured data is compared with photoluminescence and transmission data of a reference dye e.g. rhodamine 6G. The relative fluorescence quantum efficiency of the dye is calculated. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring relative fluorescence quantum efficiency of a dye.
