Abstract

The roller/unroller has a drive mechanism in the form of two reciprocating levers bolted to a central tube and acting via ratchet mechanisms to roll or unroll a layer of sheet material. Each ratchet mechanism consists of a spring-loaded pawl and a toothed disc that can be turned in either direction to roll up or deploy a large area of fabric, plastic or geotextile sheet material (up to 12 m wide and 50 m long) used to preserve cattle feed such as silage.
