The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition of eyeshadow comprising xanthan gum and a mixed silicate. The invention also relates to a method for making up the eyelids using the composition.

The eyeshadows are made up of a suitable vehicle and different coloring materials intended to give a certain color to the eyeshadow and after their application on the eyelids. They can be in aqueous or anhydrous form.

The most frequent drawback encountered when using eyeshadows is that after a certain period of time, the makeup, due to the puckering of the eyelids, tends to migrate, i.e. - say to spread over time inside the folds of wrinkles and fine lines of the skin that surround the eyes and to concentrate more or less quickly and deeply in the folds of the eyelid. This results in an effect judged generally unattractive.

This migration is often cited by women as a major shortcoming of classic eyeshadows. By "migration" is meant an overflow of the composition and in particular of the color, outside the initial trace of the makeup.

 Anhydrous eyeshadows, and in particular those in the form of compact powder, after their application on the eyelids, tend to crumble over time, in particular due to the mechanical action exerted by the blinking of the eyelids on the makeup applied. This results in a loss of material causing deterioration of the makeup and requiring the user to renew the application of makeup.

 Furthermore, for aqueous eyeshadows which have a fluid texture, the coloring materials can decant during storage, this instability then making the makeup product unsuitable for a uniform application on the eyelids.

The object of the present invention is to have an eyeshadow in solid form which has good storage stability, in particular for 2 months at

 Another object of the invention is to have an eyeshadow in solid form, dilutable with water and which spreads easily on the eyelids and forms on them a homogeneous make-up film, which does not does not migrate and has good resistance over time.

 The inventors have discovered that such an eyeshadow can be obtained by using xanthan gum and a mixed silicate in an anhydrous medium. The

This eyeshadow dilutes before application, for example with water; the shade and the coverage of the make-up film can thus be modulated according to whether the dilution is more or less important.

In addition, the eyeshadow spreads well over the eyelids, provides a pleasant feeling of freshness and the makeup obtained has a homogeneous distribution of the coloring matters. In addition, the makeup has good resistance over time to sebum and / or to the mechanical action of the movement (blinking) of the eyelids: the coloring matters do not diffuse in the folds of the eyelids and therefore remain well distributed over the eyelids at over time. Xanthan gums are generally synthesized by fermentation of sugars by the bacterium XANTHOMONAS CAMPESTRI and the mutants or variants thereof.

Xanthan gums have in their structure 3 different monosaccharides which are mannose, glucose and glucuronic acid in salt form, in particular sodium salt.

Xanthan gums generally have a viscosity in water ranging from 0.6 to 1.65 Pa. S. (measured at 25 C with a Brookfield viscometer, LVT type at 60 rpm).

They have a molecular weight which can range from 1,000,000 to 50,000,000.
