Abstract

The climbing karibiner comprises a fixed metallic body (12) having a first retaining hook (14) and a first mobile finger (24) delimiting a space (28) accessible after pivoting the finger to the open position. The body is fitted with a second retaining hook (16) engaging with a second mobile finger (30) to define a second space (36) separated from the first by a common section (18). The opening of the two fingers takes place in the opposite direction to one another.

Double carabiner for climbing Technical field of the invention

  The invention relates to a carabiner for climbing comprising a fixed metal body having a first retaining hook, and a first movable finger delimiting a first space accessible after pivoting of the first finger

towards the open position.

  State of the art Such a carabiner is for example described in the document FR 2 700 271, and

  is used to connect an insurance device to a user's shoulder harness.

  The insurance device can be a simple or self-locking descender, or a

rope clamp.

  Several carabiners are generally necessary to perform the functions of attaching to the harness and guiding the rope. The use of various

  separate carabiners complicates the tying operation.

  OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the invention consists in making an improved carabiner capable of simplifying the roping of the user, and in fulfilling a double attachment function

and rope guide.

  The carabiner according to the invention is characterized in that the body is equipped with a second retaining hook cooperating with a second movable finger to define a second space separated from the first space by a trunk

  common, the opening of the two fingers taking place in opposite directions to each other.

  According to a preferred embodiment, the first space is larger than the second space. The second finger is pivotally mounted on an axis located near the foot of the trunk, while the first finger is articulated on

  an axis arranged at the end of a lower branch connected to the foot of the trunk.

  The two retaining hooks consist of branches of lengths

  different arranged on either side of the top of the trunk.

  According to a characteristic of the invention, the first movable finger can be provided with a locking ring intended to block the first space in position

closing.

  According to an example of use of the carabiner, the first space is used for the connection with a descender and the attachment of a harness, while the second

  space is used for the passage of the rope from the descender.

  Description of a preferred embodiment

  In FIGS. 1 and 2, a double carabiner 10 for climbing comprises a fixed metal body 12, composed of two retaining hooks 14, 16, which are secured on either side of a common trunk 18. The body 1 2

  made of aluminum alloy or steel, can be obtained by bending or forging.

  The upper right branch 20 connecting the first hook 14 to the top 21 of the trunk 18 is longer than the upper left branch 22 carrying the

second hook 16.

  The first hook 14 cooperates with a first movable finger 24, which is articulated on an axis at the end of the lower right branch 26, so as to be able to pivot between a closed position (FIG. 2), and a position

  opening (figure 1), and vice versa.

  The upper right branch 20, the trunk 18, and the lower right branch

  26 are shaped according to a C profile, delimiting a first space 28 capable of being opened or closed by the first pivoting finger 24.

  The second hook 16 is associated with a second movable finger 30, mounted to tilt on an axis 32 located in the vicinity of the foot 34 of the trunk (18).

  A second space 36 is thus formed by the upper left branch 22 and the trunk 18, and the pivoting of the second finger 30 allows access to it.

  The two axes 25, 32 are substantially parallel, and arranged on either side of the common trunk 18. The opening of the two fingers 24, 30 takes place in opposite directions to one another, and can be actuated either simultaneously or separately with one hand.

  The first space 28 is larger than the second space 36, and the first finger 24 is advantageously constituted by a safety finger fitted with a locking ring 38, of the screw-on or hand-held type.

  The second finger 30 is formed, for example, by a steel wire bent into a pin, but it is also possible to use a finger of the same type as the first finger 24 with or without a locking ring.

  Figure 3 shows an example of using the double 10 carabiner in

  association with a 40 descender on rope.

  The first space 28 serves for the connection of the carabiner 10 with the descender 40, and attaches it to the user's harness. Just open the first 10 movable finger 24, and pass the first hook 14 at a time through the holes

  42 of the descender 40, and in the attachment ring of the harness (not shown).

  The second space 36 is used for the passage of the rope 42 to guide it to the exit of the descender 40. The speed of descent along the rope 44 is thus

better controlled.

  It is clear that the double carabiner 10 according to the invention can be used alone or in combination with other devices, in particular blockers with or without a grip handle.

Carabiner for climbing comprising a fixed metal body (12) having a first retaining hook (14), and a first movable finger (24) delimiting a first space (28) accessible after pivoting of the first finger (24) towards the open position, characterized in that the body (12) is equipped with a second retaining hook (16) cooperating with a second movable finger (30) to define a second space (36) separate from the first space (28 ) by a common trunk (18), the opening of the two fingers (24, 30) being carried out in the opposite direction one of the other.   1 5 2. Carabiner according to claim 1, characterized in that the first   space (28) is larger than the second space (36).   3. Carabiner according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the second finger (30) is pivotally mounted on an axis located in the vicinity of the foot (34) of the trunk (18).   4. Carabiner according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the first   finger (24) is articulated on an axis (25) arranged at the end of a lower branch connected to the foot (34) of the trunk (18).   5. Carabiner according to claim 1, characterized in that the first finger   (24) mobile is provided with a locking ring (38) intended to block the first space (28) in the closed position.   6. Carabiner according to claim 1, characterized in that the second   finger (30) is formed by a steel wire bent into a pin.   7. Carabiner according to claim 1, characterized in that the two retaining hooks (16, 22) are constituted by branches (20, 22) of different lengths arranged on either side of the top (21) of the trunk ( 18).   8. Carabiner according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the first space (28) is used for the connection with a descender (40) and the attachment of a harness, while the second space (36) is used for passage of the rope (42) from the descender (40).
