Abstract

The reflector system consists of strips (1) of self-adhesive reflective coloured plastic between 3 and 10 mm, and preferably 5 mm, wide that are stuck to the rims (2) on both sides of the wheels (3) of a two-wheeled vehicle such as a motorcycle, moped or scooter to enhance its visibility. The strips can be fixed to the wheels of new vehicles during assembly, or supplied in kit form on reels for applying to existing vehicles. The strips can be made by cutting narrow sections from rolls of self-adhesive reflective plastic between 914 and 1230 mm wide.

Description

- 1 The present invention relates to a signaling device

  allowing instant identification under a light source of a vehicle with two wheels of 3/4 Front or Rear as well as Side by application of a self-adhesive retroreflective plastic net (1) on the external and / or internal faces of the rims (2) . It is a very bright passive security system. Current signaling devices include: for motorcycles, mopeds, mopeds, scooters:

  -a red retro reflector on the rear mudguard.

  - an orange reflector on the front left and right.

for bicycles and VIT:

  - a red reflector at the rear on the mudguard or under the saddle.

  - a set of orange and retro reflectors on the front and rear on the left and right pedals.

  These rigid and fragile devices only offer a small surface for reflecting the

  light and are therefore often broken or hidden: at the rear, the red reflector by dirt, mud etc.

  There is no system for road racing bikes.

  Nothing differentiates a red reflector from a two wheeler from that of an automobile, a truck, coach, public works or agricultural machinery.

  Nothing differentiates an orange retro reflector on a two-wheeler from that of a bus,

truck, trailers, gear etc ...

  The device according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks.

  It consists of a self-adhesive, retro-reflective plastic film (1) with a preferred width of 5mm and a length such that it allows the four perimeters of the rims (2) to be fitted with two wheels, i.e. minimum length of two meters and maximum of eight meters, in the form of a do-it-yourself kit, delivered in three parts:

  - a roll of self-adhesive retroreflective plastic net (1) with very high brightness of the chosen color.

  - a smoothing spatula to expel air bubbles and optimize bonding without altering

  the retroreflective part (l).

  - an explanatory note on cleaning, degreasing and fitting the product. The basic support product sold commercially must be repackaged: The retroreflective self-adhesive plastic nets (1) are obtained by cutting in cross-section a retroreflective self-adhesive plastic roll to obtain

  from 180 to 240 strips 5mm wide for support sheets 914 and 1230mm wide.

  It is possible to make rolls 3 to 10 mm wide depending on their destination: (rims (2) more or less wide or thick).

  The basic colors and their intense reflection colors are as follows:

  White reflects White, Red reflects Red, Blue reflects Blue, Yellow reflects Yellow, Green reflects Green, Orange reflects Orange, Black reflects White, Red Fluo reflects Red, Yellow Fluo reflects Yellow.

  The plastic film (1) is self-adhesive on one side insulated by a protective and colored retroreflective sheet on the other. It has deformability properties in

  depending on its width: large from 3 to 5 mm and minimal from 6 to 10 mm.

  - 2 Films and their quality are guaranteed for four years by the manufacturer. The installation is carried out simply after washing, degreasing the rims by applying the net (1) directly on the support (2) by removing the protective part from the face

  There are four different ways to position the net (1).

  - on the outer faces of the rim (2) for lateral signaling. (fig 2) - on the inner faces of the rim (2) for 3/4 front rear signaling (fig.3) - on the convex faces of the rim (2) for lateral signage + 3/4 front rear ( fig. 4) on the concave faces of the rim (2) for lateral signaling + 3/4 Front Rear (fig.5)

  The positioning of the retroreflective self-adhesive plastic net (1) will depend on the shape or configuration of the rim (2).

  This device, which does not currently exist in this form, can equip all types

  two wheels, motorcycles, mopeds, mopeds, scooters, bicycles, mountain bikes etc ... We can also after having equipped the two rims (2), complete the safety aspect of accessories such as helmets, top cases, bags, suitcases in using the length of the self-adhesive retroreflective plastic net (1) remaining available.

  By optical effect, the surface of reflected light is increased tenfold because it becomes equal to

  the surface of an entire wheel. The slight sway of a bike accentuates the reflective impact of light thanks to the changes of angles.

  l can be installed directly: at manufacturers or importers of two wheels on new vehicles.

  - at resellers on new and second-hand vehicles not equipped.

  - in private homes on their own mount.

  It could also be delivered with the bicycle carrier systems adaptable to motor vehicles as a safety accessory to be placed on at least one bicycle located at the rear end of the load because the rear lights are often hidden by

  the thickness of the tire (3) and the rim (2).

  The self-adhesive retroreflective plastic nets (1) are sold in the form of kits for individuals and retailers. They can be delivered by the linear meter to professionals, builders, importers.

Claims (6)
