Abstract

The treatment procedure, especially for aqueous solutions containing non-soluble materials such as oil in suspension and a soluble fermentable fraction, consists of a pre-treatment using a separating membrane, followed by fermentation, and then separation of the macro-products of fermentation using the same membrane as for the pre-treatment. The system employing the procedure has sets of valves for selective membrane feeds and for passing the separation products to selected destinations. The membrane system can be adapted physically or chemically to act as pressure regulators for two treated solutions.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

The present invention relates to an aqueous solution treatment comprising mainly and in order, a membrane separation treatment, aerobic fermentation followed by a second membrane treatment.

As it stands, membrane systems are found within aqueous liquid processing systems. More rarely, there are several membrane systems in series or in parallel in a process for processing liquids.

The present invention consists of a membrane pre-treatment followed by fermentation. The macro products of fermentation are separated from the liquid by the same membrane system which performs the pre-treatment.

The present invention has the advantage of limiting the installation to a single membrane system alternately assigned to the clarification of the raw liquid and to the separation of the partially recycled biomass towards the fermentation tank.

The method finds advantage in the treatment of aqueous solutions containing a significant proportion of non-water-soluble suspended matter such as oil, accompanied by a soluble fermentable fraction. This invention applies, for example, to the treatment of waste water.

The system includes sets of valves making it possible to choose the supply of the membrane system and to direct the products of the separation to distinct destinations. The membrane system is equipped with possible means of physical and / or chemical adaptation to the two solutions to be treated as pressure regulators.
