Abstract

The present invention relates to a bulged base of a boat keel, in particular the base of one of the keels intended to equip a boat of the catamaran type. The skid (3) is prepared separately but which is mounted and fixed securely under the keel (2) of a boat hull (1) by simple means. The separate skid (3) is mounted under the keel (2) and can be removed easily by means of vertical screws passing through the shoe (3) and screwing into holes drilled in the base of the keel (2).

Description

The invention relates to the swollen base of a boat keel, in particular the

  base of one of the keels intended to equip a catamaran type boat.

  We already know a keel of a catamaran type boat which is swollen at its base and whose horizontal section is narrow in its upper part and widened in its lower part to form a skid, as shown in the American model patent US Des . 362 835, the wide pad providing an effect

  of "foil" under spinnaker with carrying winds.

  Furthermore, we also know that pleasure boats of the catamaran type are used in particular near the beaches on which they are towed or towed, placed on their keels. These boats are often towed on the beaches without external means and, because of their V-shaped hull forming a plow base, their traction is very difficult and painful. The presence of bulges with bulging bases in

  shape of skids, at the lower ends, facilitates traction.

  Another advantage of skid pins of this type is that they constitute, for the user, hooking means when the boat capsizes, which is in this case frequent. User can wedge their heels against

  the skid of one of the skittles to bring the boat up.

  However, these pads, as they form a single piece with the rest of the keel, have the disadvantage of being fragile and of wearing out quickly, which has the effect of causing rapid wear of the whole of the keel and a degradation of the general structure of the hulls or one of the hulls of the catamaran. In addition, the manufacture of this keel which ends in the shape of a skid requires the installation, under the keel, of a mold of complicated shape - it is necessary to provide a mold with draft and which is made up of several parts - is

delicate and high cost.

  An object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks: namely rapid wear, degradation of the hull, costly and inconvenient manufacture, by always providing a keel with a bulging base which offers an effect

  on the one hand, and which facilitates the movement of the catamaran on a beach.

  According to a characteristic of the invention, there is provided a separate pad but which can be mounted and fixed securely under the keel of a boat hull by

simple means.

  According to another characteristic, there is provided a separate pad whose assembly and disassembly under the keel are easy by means of vertical screws.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the separate pad, seen in profile, has a variable thickness so as to have a rectilinear lower surface,

  whatever the profile of said lower base of the keel.

  The characteristics of the invention mentioned above, as well as

  others will appear more clearly on reading the following description of a

  exemplary embodiment, said description being made in relation to the drawings

  which is attached to a skate according to the invention.

  Fig. I shows the cross section of a hull 1 ending downwards by a keel 2, increasingly fine, under which is mounted a shoe 3. The shoe 3 has a width substantially greater than the keel 2, at its lower base 4, and as shown in FIG. 1, present on each side of the base 4

  of the keel 2 of the edges 5 which create between them a central part 6.

  Along the longitudinal center line of part 6, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, are drilled vertically, from place to place, holes 7 which are located opposite holes 8 drilled vertically in the keel 2 and through

which are driven screws 9.

  Fig. 2 partially shows that the shoe 3 is placed in abutment against the rear edge 19 of the base 4 of the keel 2, which ensures at the time of the installation of the shoe 3 a correct alignment of the holes 7 and 8. The holes 8 can be,

  in advance, fitted with threaded ferrules, which ensures better security.

  The exploded side view of FIG. 3 shows that skate 3 can have a

  variable thickness, which allows it to have a rectilinear underside.

  It will also be understood that other fixing means can be

  adapted to fix this pad optimally.

Claims (6)

  1) Bulged base of a boat keel, in particular the base of one of the skittles intended to equip a catamaran type boat, characterized in that the skid (3) is prepared separately but which is mounted and fixed firmly under the keel (2 )   a hull (1) of a boat by simple means.   2) Keel swollen base according to claim 1, characterized in that the separate pad (3) is mounted under the keel (2) and can be easily removed by means of vertical screws passing through the pad (3) and screwed into drilled holes in the base of the keel (2).   3) Bulging keel base according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the shoe (3) has a surface which has been coated with a reflective material to more easily locate the boat when the boat capsizes.   4) Bulging keel base according to any one of claims 1 to   3, characterized in that the separate pad (3) is wider than the lower base (4) of the keel (2) and the upper face of which has a central part which matches the shape of said lower base (4) and which is bordered, of each   side of said base, by longitudinal edges (5).   5) Bulging keel base according to any one of claims 1 to   4, characterized in that the separate pad (3) has a series of holes (7) aligned in the longitudinal direction at the center of said central part opposite   holes (8) drilled in said base (4), through which screws (9) pass.   6) Bulging keel base according to any one of claims 1 to   5, characterized in that the separate pad (3), seen in profile, has a variable thickness so as to present a rectilinear lower surface, whatever   the profile of said lower base of the keel (2).
