Abstract

The collar (10) consists of an elongated padded sleeve that can be fitted round a patient's neck and has an inner cavity to receive a plastic stiffener (16) that is pre-bent to the required curvature. One end of the sleeve has a fastening (18, 22) that can be opened to insert or retrieve the stiffener, and one part (22) of the fastening is used to join the two ends of the collar together.
