Abstract

The bed extension has a sub mattress (B) placed on a support plate (1A) on the end of the existing mattress. The plate can form the upper surface of a casing mounted on the bed frame with four height adjustable feet. The case can have struts with hooked ends to attach it to the foot of the bed.

Description

 The present invention relates to a device for lengthening the bed bases and the beds relating thereto.

 Box springs and standard beds have traditionally been on average 1.90 to 2 meters in length, which is not enough for tall people to be comfortable.

 The device according to the invention overcomes this drawback.

 The device, as regards the box springs, is in fact made up, according to a first characteristic of two distinct elements: a shelf (1 A) and an extra mattress (2 A) coming to rest on the shelf (1 A) .

 As regards the beds, when they are associated with an extended bed base, the device also consists of two similar elements intended to be fixed to the sides of the bed.

 Each side will have been sawn before fixing the elements so as to obtain, for example, two sections respectively 0.30 meters long for that fixed to the footboard, and 1.70 meters for the other.

 Between these two sections will be inserted similar elements thus lengthening the bed.

According to particular embodiments:
-the tablet constitutes the top of a lying box.

 -The reclining box has no bottom, which allows to place in each of its four interior angles a foot adjustable in height.

 -The box has two hooks on its two ends which are fixed to two pins positioned on the sides of the bed base.

 -The reclining box can have the form of a bench with feet adjustable in height, and can be used for other purposes.

The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: Figure 1 shows the device comprising two
separate elements: shelf (1 A) and mattress (2 A).

FIG. 2 represents a variant of the device under
the shape of a bottomless lying box, the
upper side constitutes the shelf (1 A). The
box has four feet (16) adjustable in
height, and two hooks (7) attached to the ends (10)
from the box.

Figure 3 shows one of the similar elements of the
device consisting of a board (18) and two
metal plates (19) projecting from each side
of this board thus allowing the fixing of the
device between the sections (20) and (21) of the sides
(15) from the bed.

Figure 4 illustrates the method of attachment near the foot
bed (14) similar elements 3, interposed
between the two sections (20) and (21) of the bed sides.

The first sketch C 1 is the interior view where
depicted the cleat (17). The second sketch C 2 is the
outside view.

Figure 5 shows the box spring (12) at the end of which
is fixed the lying box subject to the
hooks (7) to the pins (8) positioned on the sides
(9) of the bed base, the feet adjustable in height (16), the
extra mattress (2 A) placed near the headboard
(13) in the space left free by the standard mattress
(11) which was pulled on the shelf (1 A) thus ensuring
the stability of the whole.

FIG. 6 represents a bed whose visible side (15) is equipped with the device 3, and the auxiliary mattress (2 A) placed at the end of standard mattress (11) near the footboard (14) on the shelf ( 1 A) not visible, itself placed on the tabs - not visible also - fixed inside the sides of the bed.

According to a variant not illustrated, the shelf (1 A) can be fixed at the end of the bed base (12), on the footboard side, with hinges, and supported by crutches placed between the bottom part of the bed base and the edge of the tablet (1 A), thus forming a gallows.

Claims (8)

 1) Device intended to lengthen the box springs and the beds relating thereto for people of high stature, characterized in that it consists of two distinct elements: a shelf (1 A), and an extra mattress ( 2 A), coming to rest on the shelf (1 A).  2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the shelf (1 A) constitutes the upper face of the lying bottomless box 2, adjustable in height.  3) Device according to claim 2 characterized in that the box 2 has four feet (16) adjustable in height, each placed in one of the four interior angles of the box 2.  4) Device according to claim 3 characterized in that the box 2 has on its two ends (10), two hooks (7) which are fixed to two pins (8) positioned on the sides of the bed base (12).  5) Device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that each of the two similar elements 3, intended to lengthen the beds associated with the box springs, consists of a board (18) of suitable size.  6) Device according to claim 5 characterized in that on the board (18) will be bolted two metal plates (19) intended to fix the element 3 between the sections obtained by sawing the sides of the bed (20) and (21).  7) Device not illustrated, according to claim 1, characterized in that the shelf (1 A) can be fixed at the end of the base using hinges, and supported horizontally by crutches allowing the shelf (1 A) to be retractable if necessary.  8) Device not illustrated according to claim 3 characterized in that the box 2 'can be replaced by a bench with feet adjustable in height.
