Abstract

The pliers have a pair of shanks (12,20) with a waisted central section (28) having a slot (30). One shank (12) has a pivot lug (34) with saw tooth formations engaging similar teeth on the slot. A spring (54) is attached at its end to the jaw sections (16,26) of the pliers.

  As can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, a clamp 10 resets

  As can be seen in Figure 3, when no external force is exerted on the clamp 10, the energy released by the springs 52

  and 54 allows the pivot point A of the two support arms to be pro-

  che of the first long element 12. The consequence is that the first and second long elements 12 and 20 are completely open. The central partition 12c is provided on its upper face with a cavity 12e in

  which a third conical spring 60 pushes a face 28a of the

  cond long element to hold the teeth 32 of the long slot 30

  away from the stop member 34.

  When the clamp 10 is not actuated, the jaw ends 14 and 24, and the handle ends 16 and 26 are completely open, as shown in Figure 3. When pressure is exerted on the ends by hand forming handle 16 and 26, the two ends forming jaw 14 and 24 move one

Claims (5)

  1. Pliers characterized in that it comprises   a first long element (12) having a shaped end   mant jaw (14), a handle end (16), and a central shrink portion (18); a second long element (20) comprising a jaw-forming end (24), a handle end (26), and a central narrowing part (28) provided with a long slot (30) comprising two long parallel faces ( 30a, 30b), one of said two long faces being provided with a series of teeth (32);   a stop element (34) pivotally mounted on said central part   trale (18) of said first long member (12) and located in said long slot (30);   a first support arm (40) comprising a first ex-   end (40a) pivotally mounted on said handle end   (16) of said first long element by a first axis (42) acting as   me a pivot, said first support arm further comprising a   end cap (40b); a second support arm (44) longer than said first support arm and having a first end (44a) pivotally mounted on said handle end (26) of said second member   long by a second axis (46) acting as a pivot, said first   re end of said second support arm being attached with an element   stopper (48), said second support arm further comprising a second end (44b) which is pivotally mounted on said second end (40b) of said first support arm; a first spring (52) fitted on said second support arm   so that one end (52a) of said first spring pushes said se-   end of said second support arm, and that another end   tee of said first spring pushes said second axis (46); and a second spring (54) attached by one of its ends (54a) to said handle end (16) of said first long element, and by another of   its ends (54b) at said end forming a handle (26) of said se- cond long element.   2. Pliers according to claim 1, characterized in that ladi-   te second end (44b) of said second support arm is provided with a stop portion (44c) capable of holding said first arm   support and said second support arm at an angle of 90 degrees.   3. Pliers according to claim 1, characterized in that said   first long element includes a partition element (12c) for-   seen from a cavity (12e) on one of its upper faces; further characterized in that said first long member is provided with a third spring (60) which is located in said cavity so that one end of said third spring urges one face (28a) of said central portion forming a narrowing of said second member long, in order to keep the teeth (32) of said long slot away from said stop member   (34) when no force is exerted on said teeth of the- said long slit.   4. Pliers according to claim 1, characterized in that said   stop member has a cam surface (34b).   5. Pliers according to claim 1, characterized in that said   second spring (54) is attached by one of its ends to a part   tie of said handle end (16) of said first long member, said part of said handle end being contiguous with   said central portion forming a narrowing (18) of said first element long.
