  The device according to the present invention aims to remedy this state of affairs. It makes it possible to eliminate the chores of cleaning and spinning and to very easily maintain for several days a brush or a roller impregnated with paint in a state such that it can be immediately used without special precautions. The device also makes it possible to handle it without care and to store it in a tool box or bag without cleaning it.

  The device, Figures 1 to 5, consists of two parts that can be assembled so as to form a receptacle whose internal shape matches the active part of the instrument to be protected, that is to say the bristles of a brush or the rotating cylinder of a paint roller. The two parts of the device, each formed by a half-shell 1, 2, are preferably symmetrical and each comprise a peripheral joint plane 3 allowing a hermetic assembly thanks to a flexible joint 4 mounted on one of these plane joint and fitting into a groove 5 provided on the second. The assembly is carried out thanks to one or more removable joints or hinges 6 mounted on one of the sides of the two half-shells, the opposite sides being provided with a latching locking system constituted by a stud 7 with groove mounted on one of the elements of the device, and to a deformable lever 8 with rib fixed on the second element.
