Abstract

The double-face knitted jersey fabric has a link yarn (3) which is plated to the yarn (1) forming one of the fabric faces. The fabric is knitted from two feeds with three different yarns, using a disk and a cylinder. Two yarns (1,2) are knitted on the disk and cylinder, to form two jersey layers, and a third yarn (3) links them together by plating with one of the yarns (1). The plating yarn (3) and its bond with the jersey layer yarn (1) is by a loop (30) passing round the second jersey layer yarn (2) to lock them together. The lock is at the foot of the loops at the second yarn (2) for the second jersey layer. The plating yarn (3) is a stretch or a conventional yarn.

Description

DOUBLE SIDED KNIT
The present invention relates generally to a knitted fabric and more specifically a double-faced knitted fabric, that is to say a knitted fabric comprising two faces each produced by knitting and connected to each other. This type of knitting is often, but not exclusively, used for clothing intended for sportsmen because it offers the possibility of wicking sweat in an entirely interesting way by making knitting with a hydrophobic fiber on its reverse side situated in contact with the body and with a hydrophilic side on its right side.

 This type of knitting is known and is for example the subject of the French patent? 89 14623 in which it is proposed to improve the clothing intended for sportsmen by using on the one hand an elastic thread of vanization during knitting of the right side of the knit and on the other hand an elastic thread of connection of the two faces.

 In such a knitting, the connecting thread must be a finer and more resistant thread than the other threads used, which complicates knitting.

 The present invention tends to propose a new double-sided knit which does not have this drawback.

 To this end, the invention relates to a double-sided knitted fabric comprising a reverse side and a face side in jersey connected by a connecting thread, characterized in that said connecting thread is vanized with the thread constituting one of the faces.

The double-sided knitting according to the invention is also remarkable in that:
-it is made on two scraps with three different threads on a machine comprising a tray and a cylinder, two threads being knitted respectively on the tray and on the cylinder so as to form a first and a second jersey, a third thread ensuring the connection between the two jerseys and being vanized with the thread of the tray,
-the plaiting and binding thread follows the thread constituting the first jersey over most of its course and forms a loop passing around the thread constituting the second jersey to ensure the connection of said first and second jersey at the foot of the loops that forms said thread constituting the second jersey,
the vanization and connecting thread is an elastic thread,
the vanization and connecting thread is a conventional thread.

The invention will be better understood from the description which follows given by way of nonlimiting example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

 As can be seen in FIG. 1, the double-sided knitting according to the invention is carried out on two scraps with three different threads. The yarns 1 and 2 are knitted respectively on the tray and on the cylinder so as to form a jersey.

 According to the invention, the wire 3 which provides the connection between the two jerseys constituted by the wires 1 and 2 is vanized with the wire 1 of the tray.

 During dc! at fall 1 (FIG. 1.1), the yarn 1 is knitted on the tray at the same time as the yarn 3 for vanization, while the yarn 3 is also taken care of by the cylinder so as to ensure the bonding of the double-sided knitting.

 During the fall 2 (figure 1.2), the thread 2 is knitted on the cylinder. This fall is carried out in a normal manner: taking of the wire 2, felling and forming of mesh on the wire 3 of pns connection on the fall 1.

 To carry out this knitting, the felling of the tray is offset so as to pin the insertion of the thread 1 on the end of the needles of the tray without the needles of the cylinder being able to knit it.

 Figure 2 shows the constitution of the double-sided knit according to the invention. There are shown three rows of yarn 1 forming a first jersey located in the bitter background on the drawing and three rows of yarn 2 forming a second jersey located in the foreground on the drawing. In order not to overload the drawing, a single row of plating thread 3 and connection has been shown on the drop in the middle. This thread 3 follows the thread 1 over most of its course and forms a loop 30 passing around the thread 2 to ensure the connection of the first and second jersey at the foot of the loops formed by said thread 2, so as to surround the two feet of the omega formed by the wire loop 2.

 When the double-faced knit that ron wants to obtain must have a high density and elasticity, an elastic yarn is chosen to constitute the yarn 3 for plating and binding, for example an elastane yarn.

 When the elasticity of the double-sided knit is not sought, the yarn 3 can be chosen from all the conventional yarns, the only necessity being to choose a yarn strong enough to ensure the connection of the first and second jersey in good conditions.

 As shown in FIG. 3, the double-sided knitting according to the invention can be carried out on a double needle bed machine of any gauge, by adding an additional pass-through to guide the thread while the thread 3 for plating and binding is guided. by the machine's original grommet.

 The knitting according to the invention is very attractive because its two faces are identical and the connecting thread cannot be detected with the naked eye.

 Although it has only one elastic thread, an elastic knit according to the invention has very good elasticity and high nervousness.

 Quite appreciably, the two faces of the knit have a very good solidity.

 Finally, it is possible to obtain a knit according to the invention having two faces having totally different types of yarn without transplanting the moon relative to the other.

RESELL  1.-Double-sided knitting comprising a reverse side and a knit side face connected by a connecting thread (3), characterized in that said connecting thread (3) is vanized with the thread (1) constituting one of the faces.  2. Knitting according to claim 1, characterized in that it is produced on two scraps with three different threads on a machine comprising a plate and a cylinder, two threads (1,2) being knitted respectively on the plate and on the cylinder so as to form a first and a second jersey, a third thread (3) ensuring the connection between the two jerseys and being vanized with the thread (1) of the tray.  3.-knitted fabric according to claim 1 or according to claim 2, characterized in that the thread (3) of vanization and binding follows the thread (1) constituting the first jersey over most of its course and forms a loop ( 30) passing around the thread (2) constituting the second jersey to ensure the connection of said first and second jersey at the foot of the loops formed by said thread (2) constituting the second jersey.  4.-Knitting according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the thread (3) of vanization and connection is an elastic thread.  5.-knitting according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the thread (3) of vanization and binding is a conventional thread
