Abstract

Butterfly wings are preserved by sandwiching their colored scales (3) between two films (1 and 5) at least one of which is transparent. The films are held in position be adhesives (2 and 4) which are transparent and do not tarnish the natural colors of the scales. The upper film may include an ultra violet filter. The ribbed membrane of the wing is not preserved.

Le procédé de conditionnement selon I'invention permet de remédier à ces inconvénients. L'aile d'un papillon est constituée d'une membrane nervurée fragile recouverte d'écailles microscopiques. La pigmentation, la forme et l'implantation de celles-ci apporte la coloration. Le procédé de conditionnement selon I'invention permet de séparer la couche d'écailles colorées de la membrane nervurée pour 1'insérer entre deux films de protection en matière souple, étanche et résistante. Le film supérieur, recouvrant le dessus des 6caillez, est transparent pour assurer en outre la visibilité des couleurs. Le film inférieur, recouvrant le dessous des écailles, permet en outre de fixer ou de coller l'ensemble du conditionnement sur le support de son choix. Les deux films adhérent de part et d'autre de la couche d'écailles formant ainsi un conditionnement étanche et indissociable. La nature sans solvant des adhésifs utilisés ne provoque aucune réaction chimique susceptible de ternir les couleurs irisées. L'adhésif situé entre le film supérieur et le dessus de la couche d'écailles est transparent pour assurer lui aussi la visibilité parfaite des couleurs. Grâce à sa souplesse, sa résistance et sa finesse (épaisseur non limitative totale d'environ 0, 3 mm) le conditionnement peut-tre transformé de diverses manières (poinçonnage, découpage, thermoformage, pliage, collage, couture...) permettant ainsi de nombreuses applications. 7) A method according to claim 3 characterized by the upper film (1) which can undergo a treatment to filter ultraviolet capable of eventually discolouring certain colors sensitive to brightness.

8) Method according to claim 5 characterized by the choice of a transparent adhesive (2) between the upper film (1) and the scales (3) to allow visibility of the colors of the wing.
