Abstract

The cap has a wire cage (11) extending between the lower wire ring (10) and the cap (2). The cage is made up of separate pieces each formed of a wire shaped into a U with hooked lower ends (13) and the upper ends shaped to fit the cap flange (7). The upper ends of the shanks of the wires fit into recesses in the cap.

MUSELET-PLATE TO LOCK A PLUG ON A

BOTTLE

  The present invention relates to a wire-plate which allows

  lock a cap on a bottle.

  The wire caps generally consist of a stamped plate which covers the cap and a wire cap which includes a belt which encloses the neck and locks under the ring and this wire cap also comprises a cage made up of legs which extend between said plate and

said belt.

  This cage is made from a cross in twisted or welded wire.

  All these elements assembled form a muselet-plate assembly which

  is installed on the bottles by means of automatic machines.

  The gripping of these wire caps is carried out by the plate, at

  level of the curved surface of the latter.

  The present invention provides a plate-wire cap which retains the advantages of conventional wire caps in terms of their grip on the

  automatic positioning machines.

  The muselet-plate according to the invention in fact has the advantage of significantly reducing the quantities of son used for the realization of the

  cage by avoiding the use of a cross-shaped cage.

  According to the invention, this cage consists of several separate parts, forming the legs, which parts are in the form of a single wire engaged with the plate, by appropriate means and with the belt by means

of a classic hook for example.

  According to a first embodiment of the invention, the parts constituting the legs are each formed from a wire bent in a U-shape, the ends of which are provided with a hook, and the bottom of the U is shaped to take support on the flat of the plate, between two adjacent notches of the

skirt of said plate.

  Still according to the invention, the upper part of the legs under the bottom

  U is preferably set in the notches.

  According to an alternative embodiment, the parts forming the legs consist of a straight wire provided with a hook at its lower end and

anchoring means on the plate.

  Still according to the invention, the means for anchoring the upper end of the tab on the plate, for example consist of a connection

  by crimping at the notches in the skirt.

  The wire 1 and the plate 2 form an assembly ready to be placed on a bottle, conventionally covering a stopper and the upper part

from the neck of a bottle.

  The plate is stamped and has a curved upper part in the form of a spherical cap 3 with a small circular border 4. This plate also includes a frustoconical judge 5 provided with notches 6 and, between this skirt and the border 4 of the curved part 3 , there is a dish 7 in the form of

  horizontal crown which also bears the imprints of said notches 6.

  The wire 1 consists of a belt 10 formed of a wire, the ends of which are preferably assembled by a double twist. Between this belt 10 and the plate 2, there is the cage 11 which is made up of four

legs 12.

  These tabs 12 have at their lower end a hook 13 which cooperates with the belt 10 and their upper end is engaged with the

  plate 2, passing through the notches 6 and crimped at the level of these notches.

  Figures 1, 2 and 3 show a first embodiment of the invention. In this first embodiment, the cage 11 consists of several parts and in particular of two U-shaped parts. These U-shaped parts form two legs 12 each provided at its lower end with a hook 13 and the bottom U marked 14, is shaped to bear on the flat 7, between the skirt 5 and the circular edge 4. The upper ends of the legs 12 are housed in the notches 6 and are crimped at

these notches.

  Figures 4 and 5 show an alternative embodiment in which the cage consists of four separate pieces in the form of straight wire, which each constitute the legs 12. Each leg extends between the belt 10 and the plate 1. It comprises a hook 13 at its lower end, cooperating with the belt 10, and its upper end 16 is crimped in the notch 6

  which is arranged at the skirt 5 and the flat 7.

  The gain in material at the level of the wire constituting the cage is important for the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3, compared with the conventional cage in the shape of a cross; it is even more important with the second embodiment

shown in Figures 4 and 5.

  The diameters of the wires constituting the wire are chosen according to

  the destination of the wire caps.

Claims (5)

- CLAIMS -   1.- Muselet-plate to lock a cork on a bottle, the plate of which comprises a domed spherical cap (3) with a circular border (4) at its lower part, a frustoconical skirt (5) provided with notches (6) and a dish (7) in the form of a crown between said skirt and said cap, which muselet consists of a belt (10) intended to grip the neck of the bottle, under the ring, and of a cage ( 11) which comprises lugs serving as a connection between said belt and said plate, characterized in that said cage (11) consists of several separate parts forming the lugs (12),   which parts are engaged with said belt and with said plate.   2. Muselet-plate according to claim 1, characterized in that each piece is U-shaped consisting of a folded wire whose ends are provided with a hook (13) engaged with the belt (10) and of which the bottom (14) is   shaped to rest on the flat (7) between two adjacent notches (6).   3.- Muselet-plate according to claim 2, characterized in that the   upper part (15) of the tabs (12) is crimped in the notches (6).   4.- Muselet-plate according to claim 1, characterized in that the parts forming the legs (12) each consist of a straight wire with a hook at its lower end and anchoring means on the plate (2).   5. Muselet-plate according to claim 4, characterized in that the means for anchoring the upper end (16) of the tabs (12) consist of a connection by crimping said ends (16) in the notches (6) of the skirt (5).
