Abstract

The foot fitting for a metal frame bed consists of a support (20) made up of a flat base (21) with two right angle sections (21a,21b) joined by a section (21c). The joining section has a threaded hole (21d) into which the end of the foot (30) is screwed. The sections (21a,21b) have right angled edges (22,23,24,25) parallel to each other. These sections (21a,21b) can accommodate various widths of beams (40,50) forming the metal frame of the bed.

Description

The present invention relates to a fixing for footboard, in

particular

  for box springs of the metal frame type.

  To fix a footboard to each corner of a box spring, an assembly device is generally provided which is housed in each of the corners of the bed base, or which is attached to the rod fixed to the foot. These assembly devices are more particularly adapted to box springs of the upholsterer type o, a reinforcing heel serves as a housing for the rod or to the assembly device, but are not suitable for box springs of the metal frame type,

  devoid of heel at the junction of the side members forming said frame.

  An object of the invention is therefore to propose a standard fixing for foot of

  bed, suitable for box springs of the metal frame type.

  Another object of the invention is to propose a fixing for the footboard which

is particularly robust.

  To this end, the binding is characterized in that it comprises a support consisting of a flat base, composed of at least one straight section and one section provided with means for fixing a leg, said means being offset laterally with respect to said section or sections, said or each section having an outer and inner rim parallel to each other and folded perpendicularly in the same direction around said respective sections, said section or sections being provided to support and allow the fixing of

  stringers of variable sizes of a box spring of the metal frame type.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the binding comprises two

  sections perpendicular to each other and joined by a central section.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, said means consist

  a tapped hole provided to receive the threaded rod of a foot.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the inner edges receive

  each at least one clamping system for the side members.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the orifice is a tapping.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, each clamping system consists of a screw passing perpendicularly through said flanges through an orifice, and receiving at their respective ends a nozzle which presses on the interior wall

  side members when screwing in the screw.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the support is made of stamped metal.

  The features of the invention mentioned above, as well as others,

  will appear more clearly on reading the following description of an example of

  realization, said description being made in relation to the attached drawings, among

  The footboard attachment shown in Figs. 1 and 2, includes support

for footboard 30.

  The support 20 consists of a flat base 21 provided with two straight sections 21a and 21b arranged at right angles to each other, and joined together, in the embodiment shown, by a central section 21c forming

  approximately an angle of 45 with each of sections 21a, 21b.

  Each section 21a, 21b has an outer rim 22, 24 and an inner rim 23, 25. The association of each section 21a, 21b with their outer rim 22, 24 and inner 23, 25 form housings LI and L2 in the form of U. The ledges

  of the same section are parallel to each other and approximately the same height.

  These flanges 22, 23 on the one hand, and 24, 25 on the other hand, are advantageously bent at right angles in the same direction along their respective sections 21a and 21b. The housings LI and L2 are intended to support and allow the fixing of the beams 40 and 50 (in thin dashed line) forming the frame 70, on which said fasteners are mounted. The flat base 21 supports the faces 40c and 50c of these longitudinal members 40 and in a position close to their junction 45. Said junction 45 forms one of the

corners 46 of frame 70.

  The inner flanges 23 and 25 respectively comprise devices for

  clamping 60 intended to clamp the side members 40 and 50 in the housings LI1 and L2.

  Two identical clamping devices 60 are shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, of which

  only one, that crossing the rim 23 is completely described.

  The clamping device 60 consists of a screw 61a, passing through the inner rim 23, through an orifice 23b which is advantageously tapped. The end 61b of the screws 61a

  opens perpendicular to the face 22a of the outer edge 22.

  The end 61b receives an end piece 63, for example made of polyamide, and designed to bear on the internal wall 40a of the beam 40 when the screw 61a is screwed. By reaction, the outer wall 40b of the beam 40 is pressed against the inner face 22a of the outer edge 22. Said beam 40 is thus fixed in

housing L 1.

  The spar 50 is fixed in the housing L2 in an identical manner by the

  second clamping device 60 passing through the rim 25.

  The width L separating the flanges 22 and 23, or 24 and 25, is sufficient so that most of the side members 40, 50 constituting a frame 70, can be inserted therein according to

their lengths.

  The height H of these flanges 22 and 23, or 24 and 25, is sufficient so that most of the side members 40, 50 constituting a frame 70, can be clamped there by the

clamping device 60.

  The central section 21c has an orifice 21d, advantageously tapped, and intended to receive the rod 31, connected to a footboard 30. Said footboard 30 is mounted in a direction opposite to that of the flanges 22, 23, 24, 25 , and rests on the ground

  , when the footboard attachment is installed.

  The orifice 21d is positioned on the section 21c inside the angle formed by the intersection of the planes Pa and Pb (in thin line broken in Fig. 1) constituted by the

  inner faces 23a and 25a of the respective inner edges 23 and 25.

  A footboard 30 provided with its rod 31 is screwed suitably beforehand

  in the internal thread 21d of the central section 21c.

  A fixing for the footboard is installed at each corner 46 of a frame 70, so as to place the side members 40, 50 respectively inside the housings L1

and L2.

  The fixing for the footboard is then secured to the side rails 40 and 50 by the clamping devices 60. The screws 61a and 62a are screwed respectively into the walls 23 and 25 to allow the end pieces 63 and 64, to press respectively on

  the inner walls 40a and 50a of the side members 40 and 50.

  By reaction, the outer walls 40b and 50b of the side members 40 and 50 are clamped respectively against the faces 22a and 24a of the respective flanges 22 and 24, which secure by contact the fixing for the footboard, with the side members 40 and 50 of the

frame 70.

  The footboard 30 transmits to the floor 80 the load of the frame 70, which it receives through its face 32., The fixing for the footboard as it has just been described is particularly suitable for box springs of the frame type. metallic. These box springs have spars of variable sizes which are housed and are fixed firmly by

  clamping devices, in the two U-shaped housings of the invention.

  The footboard attachment is standard for most box springs

having a metal frame.

  Furthermore, these box springs with a metal frame do not have reinforcement heels placed at the four corners on the other box springs, and which usually support the footboard. This footboard is according to the invention fixed in a base on which rests the side rails near their corners, and provides a seat

solid at the foot of the bed.

  An alternative embodiment is proposed in FIG. 3. The binding shown is

  place directly on a single spar 50.

  This alternative embodiment consists of a part of the invention described above, which has been removed from the support 20, a section 21a or 21b as well as

  its associated edges 22 and 23 or 24 and 25.

  The fixing device (s) 60 associated with the removed internal face 23

or 25 also disappear.

  One of the side members 50 is placed inside the housing L2 which is made integral with the fixing for the footboard, by the clamping devices 60 as described above. The orifice 21d is disposed laterally in section L2 and close to the plane Pb,

and on section 21C.

  This variant can complement the fasteners placed at the corners of the frame 70, and is then preferably mounted in a position close to the middle of the

  length of the beam, in order to reduce the bending of said beam under the load.

Claims (7)

  1) Attachment for footboard, in particular for box springs with a metal frame, characterized in that it comprises a support (20) consisting of a flat base (21), composed of at least one cross section (21a, 21b ) and a section (21c) provided with means (21d) for fixing a leg (30), said means (21d) being offset laterally with respect to said section or sections (21a, 21b), said or each section (21a, 21b) having an outer and inner rim (22, 23; 24, 25) parallel to each other and folded perpendicularly in the same direction around said respective sections (21a, 21b), said section or sections (21a, 21b) being designed to support and allow the fixing of size side rails (40, 50)   variables of a box spring of the metal frame type.   2) A binding according to claim 1, characterized in that it comprises two sections (21a, 21b) perpendicular to each other and joined by a central section (21c). 3) Attachment according to claim I or 2, characterized in that said means (2 Id) consist of a threaded hole provided for receiving the threaded rod (31) of a foot (30).   4) Attachment according to claim 1, characterized in that the inner flanges (23, 25) each receive at least one clamping system (60) of side rails (40, 50).   29 5) Attachment according to claim 4, characterized in that each clamping system (60) consists of a screw (61a, 62a) perpendicularly passing through said flanges (23, 25) through an orifice (23b, 25b), and receiving at their respective ends an end piece (63, 64) which bears on the inner wall (40a, 50a) of the side members (40,   ) when tightening the screw (61a, 62a).   6) Attachment according to claim 5, characterized in that the orifice (23b, 25b) is a tapping.   7) Attachment according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that   the support (20) is made of stamped metal.
