Abstract

The toilet seat cover (1) is supported by a hinge block (3). The toilet seat itself (2) rests on the top edge of the toilet bowl and has a seal on its underside to prevent spread of odours. The seal has an opening at the front to allow entry of fresh air, and another opening at the back to allow extraction of odours. The hinge block contains an electric motor which is supplied from a low voltage supply to drive a fan which draws odours towards an outlet (0) on the side of the hinge block. The electric motor is controlled by a switch activated by the pressure of someone sitting on the seat.
