Abstract

In stitching together the overlapping edges of two synthetic fabrics (1,2), a ribbon (5) of a material which swells in a liquid, and especially water, is positioned at the inner side of the edge of one fabric (2). This is sewn in place by the same stitched seam (3) bonding the edges of the materials (1,2).
