Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an extension of the conventional saddle used in the practice of mountain biking (called mountain biking or Mountain Bise), either by a change in its structure, or by the addition of a separate element.
The specialists of this sport, in this case, the crowned champions in this discipline, recommend to adopt, in the descents, an offset position behind the saddle, and below it (at the risk of entering contact with the rear wheel), this in order to increase the grip of the rear wheel and relieve the front wheel, which facilitates control and braking on uneven ground.
Since the effectiveness of this position is no longer to be demonstrated, the object of the present invention is to make it more comfortable, safer, to facilitate control of the bicycle, and to allow the cyclist to recover his muscle during the descent.
According to particular embodiments: - The rear part of the saddle, which constitutes the essential part of the invention, may or may not be integral with the front part, consisting of a saddle of conventional shape, identical to the racing saddles on road.
- The rear part can also be integrated into the front part, without breaking the continuity, the assembly constituting a saddle of original shape, characteristic of the invention.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: - Figure 1 shows the integrated device, in longitudinal section, in overview (three-quarter rear perspective), and in top view.
- La Figure 2 représente, en coupe longitudinale, une variante amovible de ce dispositif, et le détail d'un mode de fixation, à titre indicatif.- Figure 2 shows, in longitudinal section, a removable variant of this device, and the detail of a fixing method, for information.
- La Figure 3 représente, en coupe longitudinale, deux variantes extrêmes de ce dispositif.- Figure 3 shows, in longitudinal section, two extreme variants of this device.
With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a bearing surface (1) sloping downward, a slope forming with the horizontal an angle more or less pronounced, depending on the option of the cyclist, an average value being illustrated in the figures. 1 and 2.
This surface (1) is padded with foam, or any other shock absorbing material, over a thickness greater than that which pad the traditional saddle which constitutes the front part.
Extending this support surface (1), a second support surface (2), in reverse slope, directed upwards and backwards, at an angle of approximately 5 to 30 degrees relative to the horizontal, ends the device backwards.
hauteur inférieure à la hauteur de la selle classique (A).In all cases, this surface (2) is connected to the surface (1) at a
height less than the height of the conventional saddle (A).
This surface (2) must be more rigid than the surface (1), it must be less padded, but it must allow a bending of approximately 5 degrees, in the vertical plane, on either side of its longitudinal axis, in order to absorb shocks.
It is supported by shrouds (3) of the same material as those which ensure the rigidity of the conventional saddle (4).
As an indication, these stay cables can be bent so that the median section (5) is parallel to the base of the bearing surface (1), and the following section (6) parallel to the bearing surface (2 ).
These shrouds can be threaded (7), to attach to two half-shells (8) and (9) which pinch the seat tube by means of locknuts (Nylstop for example)).
Note that the entire rear part, and mainly the bearing surface (2), constitutes a raised mudguard.
