Abstract

The device is designed for the distribution of fodder, which is presented in round bales (12), rolled with a plastics film material. The device consists of a cage formed from a series of barriers (20,22,24,26), two of which are arranged parallel to each other and on either side of the longitudinal axis of the silo (10). The barriers are supported by a frame (18), which is fitted with wheels to allow the movement of the device. The end barriers (24,26) are perpendicular to the direction of travel and are mounted so as to pivot through 90 degrees, in order to form an opening for the entry of the silo. An arched roof frame (28) carries a roof structure to protect the contents as they are stripped of the plastic film wrapping. A mechanism (40) of driving the device along the silo is also provided.
