Abstract

The panel is made by heating aluminium to an appropriate temperature and passing it at high pressure through a drawing plate to form a twin-walled panel with spacers at intervals making square- or rectangular-section channels. Heat exchangers can then be made from the panels by assembling them in batteries. The drawn aluminium panels can be made to any required length, e.g. 3, 5 or 6 m, and they can be cut to a required length subsequently. A width of 268 mm is normal for certain draw plates, but it can be greater if the draw plate or press permits.
