Abstract

The system consists of two rigid and parallel supporting rods, fixed to pedicular screws by an anchoring element in the form of a stirrup (4) with two jaws (4a, 4b) connected by a hinge (5) which allows them to open at 180 degrees to one another. The lower of the two jaws (4a) has a hole (6) through it for the pedicular screw, while the upper one (4b) has a U-shaped recess (7) for positioning it on the screw after the rod (8) has been fitted in place. The inner surfaces of both jaws have projections to give them an improved grip on the rod.
