Abstract

The accessory consists of a sleeve (2) made from a supple,insulating material, esp. a textile, which can be worn round the head or neck to keep the cold out. At least one end of the sleeve has a hemmed edge (4) with a draw-string (5) threaded through it, so that it can be closed to make a hat. The draw-string is equipped with a locking element (10). The sleeve is made, for example, from a textile material known as `polar fur.'

Description

 The present invention relates to a clothing accessory for protection against the cold. This accessory is especially intended for people exposed to a cold wind which can be significant, for example skiers or bikers.

 To protect the neck from the cold, it is known to use scarves or scarves.

 A scarf provides effective protection in conditions of zero or light wind, but is insufficient in strong or moderate winds with particularly low temperatures. It also has the disadvantage of being relatively bulky.

 Scarves, on the other hand, offer protection against the cold, which remains very limited.

 In addition, a scarf or scarf does not effectively protect the head from the cold, if necessary, and it is necessary in this case to have a hat or a headband in addition to the scarf or scarf.

 The present invention aims to remedy all of these drawbacks.

 To this end, the accessory which it relates to is in the form of a sleeve of flexible and insulating material, in particular textile, which can be engaged around the head and around the neck, this sleeve comprising at least one of its openings a sheath in which is engaged a bead with the possibility of sliding, this bead making it possible to gather the sleeve at this or these openings.

 Thanks to this cord, the sleeve can be tightened on the user's neck at one or both of its ends, which allows it to be kept tightly applied to the neck and eliminates any risk of introduction. cold air between the neck and the cuff.

The air trapped between the neck and the sleeve heats up in contact with the body and provides perfect thermal protection for the neck.

 In addition, the accessory according to the invention can have several uses, made possible by the gathering of the sleeve and its narrow application to the user: it can simply be engaged around the neck, and therefore be used as a neck-band perfectly waterproof at its ends; it can also be held on the neck and the bottom of the head, with covering of the nose, thanks to the tightening of the upper cord, and can therefore be used as a mask. The sleeve can also be folded in half at half-height, by engaging its upper half in its lower half or vice versa, so as to constitute a band forming a headband for protecting the ears.

 In addition, the manufacture of this accessory is very simple, since it can be provided in a reduced number of sizes, since the sheath-cord assembly or assemblies which it comprises make it possible to adapt the openings of the sleeve to the morphology of the user.

 Advantageously, the material used to form the sleeve is flexible enough that the clothing accessory can be completely gathered at one of its ends, until the opening is as small as possible.

The accessory can thus also be used as a hat, if necessary.

 Preferably, the cord or cords are equipped with a device for blocking their ends, making it possible to instantly adjust the frown of the sleeve and to maintain this frown after adjustment. It may in particular be a blocking device comprising a cage pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, a pusher, engaged in the cage, also pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, and an elastic means capable of normally maintain the pusher in a position in which the aforementioned holes are not in coaxial alignment with each other.

 The two ends of the cord are engaged through the various aforementioned holes. It suffices to press the pusher against the elastic means, to bring these different holes opposite one another and allow the sliding of the blocking device on the cord, then to release this pressure once the desired gathered , to wedge the cord between the pusher and the cage and immobilize the locking device in the desired position.

 According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the sleeve is made of textile material known by the name "polar fur". This material provides perfect protection against the cold and is particularly suitable for the use of the clothing accessory according to the invention as a neck-band, cover-up or hat.

 For a good understanding, the invention is again described below with reference to the appended schematic drawing representing, by way of nonlimiting example, a preferred embodiment of the clothing accessory that it relates to.

 FIG. 1 represents a clothing accessory 1 for protection against the cold.

 This accessory 1 is in the form of a sleeve 2 of flexible and insulating textile material, in particular of "polar fur", which can be engaged around the head and around the neck.

 This sleeve 2 comprises, at each of its openings 3, a sheath 4 in which is engaged a flexible cord 5 with the possibility of sliding.

 The sheaths 4 are advantageously formed by an inner flap of the textile material constituting the sleeve 2 and longitudinal seam 6.

 The cords 5 are, for their part, advantageously constituted by textile braids.

 In addition, the cords 5 are equipped with locking devices 10 at their ends. Each of these devices comprises a cage 11 pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, a pusher 12, engaged in the cage 11, also pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, and an elastic means (not visible in the figures) able to maintain the pusher 12 normally in a position in which the aforementioned holes are not in coaxial alignment with each other.

 These cords 5 and locking devices 10 allow the sleeve 2 to be gathered at the openings 3.

 The accessory 1 can have several uses shown in these figures 2 to 4.

 Figure 2 shows that the accessory 1 can be simply engaged around the neck, and therefore be used as a perfectly tight neck strap at its ends.

 Figure 3 shows that the accessory 1 can also be held on the neck and bottom of the head, with covering of the nose, by tightening the upper cord 5, and therefore be used as a nose shield.

 Figure 4 shows that when the material used to form the sleeve is flexible enough that the clothing accessory can be fully gathered at one of its ends, until the opening 3 is also reduced as possible, this accessory 1 can be used as a hat, if necessary.

 Using accessory 1 is easy. Indeed, it suffices to press on the pusher 12 of a device 10 against the elastic means, to bring the different holes opposite one another and allow the device 10 to slide on the cord 5, then to release this pressure once the desired gathered gathered, to wedge the cord 5 between the pusher 12 and the cage 11 and immobilize the device 10 in the desired position.

 This accessory is particularly intended for skiers exposed to significant cold as well as for bikers, to obtain perfect protection between the base of the helmet and the collar of the jacket or bomber.

 1 - Clothing accessory for protection against the cold, characterized in that it is in the form of a sleeve (2) of flexible and insulating material, in particular textile, which can be engaged around the head and around the neck of the user, this sleeve (2) comprising at at least one of its openings (3) a sheath (4) in which is engaged a cord (5) with the possibility of sliding, this cord (5) making it possible to gather the sleeve (2) at this or these openings (3).  2 - clothing accessory according to claim 1, characterized in that the material used to form the sleeve (2) is flexible enough that it can be completely gathered at one of its ends, until its opening (3) is as small as possible.  3 - clothing accessory according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that the cord (s) (5) are equipped with a locking device (10) at their ends, making it possible to instantly adjust the gathering of the sleeve (2) and maintain this gathered after adjustment.  4 - clothing accessory according to claim 3, characterized in that each locking device (10) comprises a cage (11) pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, a pusher (12), engaged in the cage, also pierced with two coaxial holes in two opposite walls, and an elastic means capable of normally holding the pusher (12) in a position in which the aforementioned holes are not in coaxial alignment with each other.  5 - clothing accessory according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the sleeve (2) is made of textile material known by the name "polar fur".
