Abstract

The trim panel (14) is mounted onto the interior wall (10) of the passenger compartment of an automobile by means of the fixing element (30), which is attached to the panel. The fixing element is engaged in the receiving hole (31), which is provided in the internal wall. It is located on a support pillar (40), which is part of the panel.The support pillar is mounted into a cut-out (41) in the panel, and possesses flexible blades (42) to allow displacement of the fixing element relative to the panel to allow the panel to be adjusted for correct alignment with the other trim panels, or with the vehicle body and relative to the hole, which is fixed in position in the passenger compartment walls.

  DEVICE FOR ATTACHING A COVER PANEL TO

  AN INTERIOR WALL OF A VEHICLE INTERIOR

AUTOMOTIVE

  The invention relates to a device for attaching a covering panel to an interior wall of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle in which a fixing member mounted in abutment on said panel is engaged

  receiving orifice carried by the wall.

  Publication FR-A-1319282 describes a fastening device engaged in a hole in the panel and immobilized in a slot in the latter in order to avoid accidental rotation of the panel relative to the fastener

  previously mounted on the wall.

  However, when the covering panel has to be adjusted with respect to an adjacent covering element in order to give said adjustment a quality of appearance free of roughness, it is desired to be able to adjust the

  backlash games of the panel with respect to the covering element.

  According to the invention this problem is solved in that the support of the fixing member is located on a support integral with the panel and

  mounted in relative displacement relative to the latter.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the support is mounted in a cutout of the panel and has flexible blades for connection to

the wall of said cut.

  Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent on

  reading the description of an exemplary embodiment of the device in

  reference to the accompanying drawing in which: - Figure 1 is an elevational view of an arrangement of trim panels on an interior wall of the passenger compartment of the motor vehicle, - Figures 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 are sections II-II; III-III; IV-IV; V-V VI-VI of the arrangement of panels shown in Figure 1, 2 - - Figure 7 is a partial representation on a larger scale of

  fastening device according to the invention.

  FIG. 1 shows the covering of a side wall 10 of a passenger compartment

motor vehicle.

  The covering is produced by a set of juxtaposed panels, among which a central panel 11 carries a decorative interior medallion 12 and is attached to a bottom panel 13, to a longitudinal framing panel 14 of a quarter window 15 and to a vertical framing panel 16 of said window. The framing panel 16 partially covers the panel 14 as shown in FIGS. 3 and 6 and the two

  panels 14, 16 are kept in contact by plastic studs 26.

  The central panel 11 carries docking edges 18, 19, 20 which adjoin the homologous edges of the lower panel 13, of the framing panel

  longitudinal 14 and vertical framing panel 16.

  The panel 14 also carries a covering edge 22, of the lining 17 of the roof superimposed on the internal sheet of the lateral beam for reinforcing said roof. The vertical frame panel 16

  covers the framing panel 14 and is limited by an edge 24.

  Finally the lining 17 is covered along a docking edge 23 by

  the vertical frame panel 16.

  As shown in the sections shown in Figures 2 and 3, the panel such as 11, is locally screwed to the wall 10 and partly stapled to the

  adjacent panel along the docking edges 18, 19, 20.

  In order to perfect the docking of the panel 14 respectively with the panel 11 along the edge 19 with the panel 16 along the edge 24, the latter carries an independent adjustment means described in reference to

Figures 3 and 7.

  A fixing screw 30 is supported locally on the panel 14 and is engaged in an expandable rivet 31 carried by the wall 10. In order to -3 - allow adjustment of the panel 14 at the docking edge 19, the support of the screw 30 is located on a support 40 integral with the panel 14, with respect to which said panel can be adjusted in position for the purpose of

  carry out its correct simultaneous docking at the edges 19, 24.

  To this end, the support 40 is mounted in a cutout 41 of the panel 14 and has flexible blades 42 for connection to the wall of said cutout 41. Such an arrangement allows relative movement of the panel 14 relative to the support 40 rigidly connected to the wall. The above arrangement therefore allows the correct adjustment of the panel 14 without

prior disassembly of the latter.

Claims (2)

  1) Device for attaching a covering panel (14) to an interior wall (10) of the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle in which a fixing member (30) bearing on said panel (14) is engaged in a receiving orifice (31) carried by the wall, characterized in that the support of the fixing member (30) is located on a support (40) integral with the panel (14) and mounted with relative movement compared to the latter.   2) Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the support (40) of the fixing member (30) is mounted in a cutout 1 5 (41) of the panel (14) and has flexible blades (42) of   connection to the wall of said cutout (41).
