Abstract

Natural tonic drink for animals, esp. dogs and cats, contains permeate (a by-product of the diary industry) diluted in water at a concn. of 250-750 g/l;, esp. ca. 350 g/l. The drink may also contain aminoacids, mineral salts and vitamins. Pref. the permeate used is sweet permeate or neutralised acid permeate. The drink pref. contains 0.5-5 (2) g/1 aminoacids, esp. DL-methionine or L-lysine; 50-300 (175) mg/l mineral salts, esp. cuprous chloride, zinc chloride, ferric chloride and magnesium chloride; 5-80 (25) mg/l vitamins, esp. vitamins A, D3, E, B1, B2, B6 and B12; ca. 40 g/l heavy cereal based sugars such as maltotetrose, maltose, or (esp.) maltotriose; and 0-100 (15) mg/l vitamin C.
