Pour des raisons esthétiques mais également techniques, les couches de mousse de part et d'autre de l'insert sont généralement d'épaisseur similaire. Quant au tissu qui sera éventuellement collé sur la face externe apparente de la couche de mousse, il sera fonction de la destination du produit. On pourra également prévoir de chauffer dans un premier temps une couche de mousse et l'insert pour rendre l'insert moulable puis de venir disposer dans un second temps la couche de mousse avant de disposer l'ensemble dans un moule.
