Abstract

The present invention relates to a lock housing with attached safety cylinder. This lock housing allows the interchangeability of the safety cylinder (3) on the housing which comprises for this purpose means (20) for inserting a safety cylinder of one type or another type into the housing (2), as well as means (35, 27) for extracting the bolt (6) from the outside of the housing (2) to allow its replacement by another bolt suitable for a safety cylinder of another type. This lock housing allows for example the replacement of a European type safety cylinder by a safety cylinder with lantern.

  The present invention essentially relates to a lock case to

cylinder reported.

  It has been proposed for a long time lock housings equipped with a safety cylinder, such as for example a double cylinder of the European type. The safety cylinder is mounted mounted on the lock case and

  allows, using a key, the actuation of one or more lock bolts.

  However, it is useful to be able, on the same lock case, to replace a

  safety cylinder of a certain type by a safety cylinder of another type.

  But so far, no solution has been proposed to allow

  the interchangeability of the safety cylinder on a lock housing.

  This is why the present invention aims to fill this gap.

  To this end, the subject of the invention is a lock casing with a safety cylinder attached to the casing for enabling, by means of a key, the actuation of at least one bolt, characterized in that, for allow the interchangeability of the safety cylinder on the housing, the latter comprises means for inserting a safety cylinder of a type or of another type into said housing, and means for extracting the bolt from the outside of the case to allow its

  replacement by another bolt adapted to a safety cylinder of another type.

  According to another feature of the lock housing according to this invention, the aforementioned insertion means are constituted by a pre-cut or pre-cut portion of the facing faces of the housing around at least

  part of the opening receiving the safety cylinder.

  Thus, the opening in question may receive a safety cylinder of a first type without removing the pre-cut portion of the facing faces of the housing, and a safety cylinder of another type after removal of this pre-cut portion. The lock casing according to this invention is further characterized in that the aforementioned extraction means of the bolt are constituted by an orifice formed in the headrest of the casing and giving access by a tool to a handle or

  analog whose actuation by the tool will allow the extraction of the bolt.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the tail of the bolt comprises a slot receiving a guiding pillar and opening towards the outside of the bolt to allow its removal from the casing and its replacement by a

  another bolt adapted to another type of safety cylinder.

  According to yet another characteristic of the housing of the invention, the bolt tail is provided with a pillar which is struggling in a slot which is formed in

  a control part of a linkage and which opens on the side of the headrest of the

  housing to allow extraction p8ne outward of said housing.

  It will be further specified here that the safety cylinder controlled by a key can be either a cylinder provided with a bit or a cylinder provided with a lantern for actuating the bolt tail. Moreover, the lock case can be a mortise box and

have multiple bolts.

  But other features and advantages of the invention will appear

  better in the detailed description which follows and refers to the appended drawings,

  given only by way of example, and in which: - Figure 1 is a front view and in elevation of an open lock housing according to the invention, the bolt being shown in the extended position; - Figure 2 is a side view of the lock bolt of Figure 1 adapted to be controlled by a first type of safety cylinder; FIG. 3 is a perspective view of this first type of safety cylinder; - Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 1, but showing the lock housing equipped with a second type of safety cylinder; - Figure 5 is a side view of a lock bolt adapted to be controlled by the second safety cylinder; FIG. 6 is a perspective view of this second type of safety cylinder; FIG. 7 is a plan view of the lockcase cover, hereinafter referred to as a filler; and FIG. 8 is a fragmentary plan view of the element containing the lock mechanism, hereinafter referred to as a paddle, and illustrates the part of the housing

  Referring to Figures 1 and 4, we see the palet 1 of a lock housing 2 containing a lock mechanism which essentially comprises a safety cylinder 3 actuated by a key 4 (Figures 3 and 6) and may control the moving a handle 5 and a bolt 6 which, in turn, can actuate a linkage control part 7, that is to say functionally

  connected to rods partially shown in 8.

  The pallet 1 of the lock casing 2 is closed by a lid or cover

  shown and marked at 9 in Figure 7.

  The batten 1 and the fillet 9 respectively comprise an opening 1a and an opening 9a clearly visible in FIGS. 8 and 7, and allowing the insertion and

  the maintenance of the safety cylinder 3.

  The door 1 of the lock housing 2, which is a mortise housing, comprises a headrest 10 which can be traversed by the bolt 6 and which allows the

  fixing the lock housing 2 on the edge of a door for example.

  The pallet 1 and the fob 9 can be assembled using pillars 11 and

  screws (not shown), as is conventional.

  The handle 5 is constantly biased by a spring 12 and is guided by a pin or the like 13 integral with the pallet 1 and housed in a slot 14 formed in said handle. The latter also comprises on one side a ramp 15 capable of cooperating with the safety cylinder 3, as will be explained in detail below, and on the opposite side a folded tab 16 cooperating with barbs 17 provided on the tail 6a of the bolt 6 which, in position

  output as shown in Figures 1 and 4, crosses the headrest 10.

  All the above provisions are well known per se and do not

  require no further explanation.

  According to the invention, the opening 1a of the palet 1 and the opening 9a of the funcet 9 which can be seen in FIGS. 7 and 8 and which allow the insertion of the safety cylinder 3, each comprise a part from their periphery a score line or pre-cut line 20 defining between it and the opening la, 9a a part 21 precut and therefore easily separable from the pallet 1 or the funcet

9 to enlarge the opening la, 9a.

  Thus, while keeping the part 21, it will be possible to introduce into the openings la, 9a a safety cylinder 3 which takes the form of a European type cylinder 22 which is clearly visible as such in FIG. 3 and in the mounted position

in the housing 2 in Figure 1.

  If we detach the pre-cut portion 21, the openings la and 9a will be enlarged and then allow the insertion of another type of safety cylinder 3, which takes for example the form of a cylinder 23 lanterns 24 clearly visible as than that in FIG. 6 and shown in FIG. 4 in the inserted position in the

housing 2.

  The replacement of a safety cylinder of one type by a safety cylinder of another type also requires a change of bolt 6 and thus the possibility of being able to extract the bolt towards the outside of the lock for

replace with another bolt.

  For this purpose, there is provided on the headrest 10 an orifice 25 allowing the passage of a tool (not shown) for the maneuvering of the handle 5 to allow the release of the bolt 6. More precisely, with the tool, it is possible to raise the tongue 16 of the handle 5 so as to release the barbs 17 of the tail 6a bolt 6. It will be observed here that the bolt 6 visible in Figure 2 is the one suitable for the European safety cylinder 22 visible in the figure 3, said bolt and said cylinder being also shown in FIG. 1, while the bolt 6 visible in FIG. 5 is that which is suitable for the safety cylinder 23 with lanterns 24 visible in FIG. 6, said bolt and said cylinder being as well

shown in Figure 4.

  The tail 6a of one and the other bolt 6 comprises a slot 35 receiving the pillar 13 and opening outwardly from the bolt shank 6a 6 to allow

  extraction of the bolt, as will be described in detail later.

  Furthermore, the tail 6a of each bolt 6 is provided with a pillar 26 which can be engaged in a slot 27 (FIGS. 1 and 4) which is formed in the

  control 7 of the rods 8.

  According to the invention, the slot 27 opens at 28 on the side of the headrest 10 of the housing 2 to also allow the extraction of the bolt 6 to

outside.

  Returning to FIG. 3, it can be seen that the European type cylinder 22 comprises, as known per se, a bit 29 that can be actuated by a key 4 and, as can be seen in FIG. 1, able to control the movement of the handle by its ramp. 15, and the movement of the bolt 6 by the barbs 41 of said

bolt.

  In the same way, and as can be seen in FIG. 4, the lantern feet 24 of the cylinder 23, during the rotation imposed by the key 4, will cooperate with the barbs 30 of the bolt 6 visible in FIG. 5 to actuate this bolt in the out position or returned. It should be noted, however, that the feet of

  lantern 24 do not act on the ramp 15 of the handle 5.

  For a better understanding of the invention, will be explained below how is the replacement of a safety cylinder by another in

  referring more particularly to Figures 1 and 4.

  Assuming, as can be seen in FIG. 1, that the lock housing 2 is equipped with a European type cylinder 22 and with the bolt 6 visible in FIG. 2, the following procedure will be used to replace the cylinder 22 with the cylinder

  23 and its corresponding bolt 6 visible in Figure 5.

  A tool is, as can be understood in Figure 1, inserted into the hole 25 of the headrest 10, and the tongue 16 of the handle 5 is lifted against the force of the spring 12 to thereby release said tongue 17. The bolt 6 can then be extracted, since the pillars 13 and 26 will come out with the bolt respectively slots 35 and 27 formed in the tail 6a of the bolt and in the control part 7 of the linkage. And the European type cylinder 22

  will of course be extracted from the opening la in the palâtre.

  The pre-cut parts 21 of the pallet 1 and the fob 9 will be detached so as to be able to introduce the cylinder 23 visible in FIG. 6. And the bolt 6 visible in FIG. 5 and able to operate with said cylinder 23 will be introduced into the housing of lock 2 via the headrest 10. During this introduction, the pillar 26 will enter the slot 27 of the control part 7 of the linkage through the opening portion 28, and the pillar 13 will enter the slot 35, by its

  part emerging, this after having separated the tongue 16 of the barbs 17.

  In other words, we will obtain the lock housing visible in Figure 4. It has thus been realized according to the invention a housing with lock mechanism for the rapid interchangeability and without difficulty of cylinders of

safety with their associated bolt.

  Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment

  described and illustrated which has been given only as an example.

  Thus the lock case could be a multiple bolt case. Similarly, the interchangeability, thanks to the means of the invention, could be allowed for forms and types of safety cylinder other than

  those shown in Figures 3 and 6.

  This means that the invention includes all the technical equivalents of the means described and their combinations if they are carried out according to

his mind.

Claims (7)

  1. Security cylinder lock housing attached to said housing to allow, with the help of a key (4) the actuation of at least one bolt (6), characterized in that, to allow interchangeability of the safety cylinder (3) on the housing, the latter comprises means (20, 21) for inserting a safety cylinder of a type (22) or of another type (23) into the housing ( 2), and means (25, 27, 28, 35) for extracting the bolt (6) from outside the casing (2) to allow its replacement by another bolt adapted to a   safety cylinder (3) of another type.   2. Lock housing according to claim 1, characterized in that the aforementioned insertion means are constituted by a pre-cut portion (21) of the opposite faces (1, 9) of the housing (2) around at least a part of the opening   (la, 9a) receiving the safety cylinder (3).   3. Lock housing according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the aforementioned extraction means are constituted by an orifice (25) formed in the headrest (10) of the housing (2) and giving access by a tool to a maniquet or   analogue (5) whose actuation will allow the extraction of the bolt (6).   4. Lock housing according to claim 1 or 3, characterized in that the tail (6a) of the bolt (6) comprises a slot (35) receiving a guide pillar (13) and opening outwardly of the bolt (6). ) to allow its extraction from housing (2).   Lock casing according to one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that the bolt shank (6a) (6) is provided with a pillar (26) which is engaged in a slot (27) which is provided in a control part (7) of a linkage (8) and which opens (28) on the side of the headrest (10) of the housing (2)   to allow extraction of the bolt (6) to the outside.   Lock casing according to one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that the safety cylinder (3) controlled by a key (4) is provided with a bit (29) or a lantern (24) allowing the actuation of the tail (6a) of the bolt (6).   Lock housing according to one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that it constitutes a mortise lock housing comprising multiple bolts.
