Abstract

This cylinder block 1 includes a jacket (casing) 2 made of aluminium alloy overmoulded onto cylindrical liners 4. According to the invention, these liners are connected together in the form of a cluster made of a high-silicon aluminium alloy and this cluster is preferably formed from a length of multitube section obtained by extrusion. This rigid and lightweight cylinder block can be applied particularly to the engines of motor vehicles (cars).
