Abstract

The steering wheel is attached to the steering shaft at (M). It turns the lower shaft through the threaded nut (A) which is locked to the coupling (2), whose studs (T) engage the slots (4) in the sliding sleeve (3) which has internal splines (5) engaging the toothed wheel (6) at the head of the lower steering shaft (1b).The sleeve (3) is held in engagement by the spring (7) which acts on the inner face of the sleeve and the face of the toothed wheel (6).
