Abstract

The brake disc, for a vehicle wheel, consists of a dished section (16), used to fix the disc to the central section of the wheel (10),and a peripheral section (22), which forms the two surfaces (24 & 26), which are used for braking. The central dished section (16) forms the drum for use by the parking brake, which consists of two jaws (32). The jaws carry a friction surface (34), which operates in conjunction with part of the internal cylindrical face (36) of the drum, designated as the bearing surface (A). This area (A) is coated with layer (38) of wear resistant stainless steel. ADVANTAGE - It improves the performance of the parking brake by increasing its wear and rust resistance.
