These products are presented in displays, refrigerated if necessary, perfectly visible by the customer but also inaccessible. Shelves are specialized treadmills that move sequentially in a cabinet with showcase.

3 General principle seen from the client side

Phase 4
When the customer has finished his selection and checked at the checkpoint his shopping list, he goes to a payment item.

He can use an automatic post if he holds an appropriate credit card or simply the Purchasing Interface or a cashier with a hostess if he pays by other means.

Note: In the case where the customer has used a rudimentary key, this one is
exchanged by an evolved key (but without a deposit) at the time of

The extension 1 requires the following means: - purchase interface (belongs to the customer), - the product catalogs, - a Minitel link.

The customer has a catalog of current products store (122) that he consults at his home and a purchase interface (7).

The minitel (123) (very partially) and the purchasing interface provide the necessary dialogue to make the selection of products, the payment and the transfer of data to the central system of the store.

For this mode of transaction the customer must have the purchase interface on him, which will allow him to complete his purchases inaccessible by the extension 1 and remove the goods at the positions of support of the store.

Multimedia is the association "TV, hifi, video" with the microcomputer.

The catalog of products (or even advertising) and a communication software are then stored in multimedia supports made available: - on CD-Rom (= Compact Disc Read only memory or compact disc in read only), - on CD- I (= Compact Disc Interactive or interactive compact disc), - or even on WORM (= Write Once, Read Many or record (re) recordable multiple read) - or downloaded in memory by telecommunication network.

The catalog can be consulted on a station equipped with the store or by the corresponding readers that will be marketed at short-term affordable prices for a particular job.

The software provides the dialogue "customer / store system" to allow the selection of goods and payment.

For this mode of transaction the customer must have a subscriber key (smart card) that will allow him to remove the goods at the support stations of the store (or even to be delivered).

APPLICATION 2

To operate with the purchase interface, this program must broadcast a dialogue image sending the references and the description of the article in demonstration, this may be limited to a frame (16) in which is displayed in clear: - the description of the article, - its price, - the references and the address of the body that makes the sale, - the banking identity of that body.

All this information is contained on an image point (17) in the dialogue frame called "spot" and it must point with the purchase interface to achieve the input of information by optical communication (8). This information can be available on an accessory with optical link, remote and equivalent.

 Note: the dialog software can be imported into the purchasing interface by the same means or by minitel.

2 Description of the sites and inventory of the means used
