Abstract

The unit for joining of an exterior rigid tube (1) to an interior rigid tube (2) is in the form of a ball joint made of a two-piece metallic shell (4), distinct from the inner tube and with enlarged flanged edges. An elastic mass (3) joins the outer sleeve to the shell. The metallic shell is then force-fitted onto the inner tube. USE/ADVANTAGE - As a flexible rubber ball joint having axial and conical flexion used in the mounting of trailing suspension arms for motor vehicles. The inner tube can be made from thinner material which makes for a lighter unit.
