Abstract

The casing consists of a pair of symmetrical half-shells (1,2) which cooperate to form a curved shape with a pair of arms at one end. A reel (7) of dental floss is enclosed between the shells at their other end. A groove runs around the periphery of the casing, to form a guide path for the floss. A screw (11) projecting outwardly from the casing, and having an enlarged nut (15) attached to it, engages the reel to selectively block rotation. A circular projection is defined on the casing adjacent to the screw, with a disc (13) attached to the screw bearing against it to define a tensioning surface for the floss. ADVANTAGE - Easier tensioning, gripping and cutting of floss, reducing wastage of floss for each usage.
