Abstract

The invention relates to a method for preparing an extract of fenugreek seeds and to the product obtained. The method of the invention consists in inducing the swelling of fenugreek, preferably of Indian origin, by pouring filtered water at 45 DEG C onto it in the proportion of 100 ml per 100 g of seeds, then in adding twice the amount of water 15 minutes later and in leaving the preparation to infuse while stirring slowly for 45 minutes, the resulting solution thereafter being filtered and the seeds then removed by draining or centrifugation, after which the solution is subjected to a diafiltration through a calibrated porous membrane possessing a threshold of retention of substances whose molecular weight is equal to or above 300,000. The product according to the invention is intended for incorporation in cosmetological and, where appropriate, pharmaceutical compositions, in particular in preparations that retard dermal ageing or that nourish the dermis, for example those intended for use after exposure to the sun, or alternatively in specialities used for the treatment of wounds and burns.
