Abstract

The wooden crate is assembled from modified handling pallets e.g. for use with forks lift trucks. One pallet (1) forms the base of the crate and two sides (3,3') are formed by slotting in additional pallets. The corners (4) of the support beams (2) are cut to form an interlocking joint. A fourth pallet (10) may be placed on top of the two sides to form a cover. End panels may be made up of slatted wooden planks to fit between the side walls to fully enclose the crate. The end panels have metal brackets which locate over the top edges of the side panels. When not in use, the component parts may be dissassembled and stacked up. ADVANTAGE - The crate is easy to assemble using standard wooden pallets.

The system does not require any nails or screws to assemble the box from the pallets. Thus the panel can be provided with brackets 4 so as to keep the assembly rigid, the whole can be encircled by a strip, the rafters of the standing pallets preventing the panel from moving back, the length of the uprights 7 being substantially less than the length scalloped rafters of pallets and their spacing (e) taken on their opposite faces is equal to the distance (d) separating the interior faces 2 'opposite,

  rafters from two facing pallets 3, 3 '.

  For the solidity of the support pallet, boards can be added in order to connect the rafters together, these being subjected to

  more or less strong pressures depending on the lateral thrust.

  The boxes can have a volume ranging from 0.100 m3 to 30 m3 and even much more, and depending on this volume, can be assembled or disassembled in a few seconds. The space saving of this dismantled box is around 77%. These boxes can also stack on top of each other, the upper boxes

  fitting into the notches of those below.

This pallet box system

  can adapt to any activity.

  Although a simplified embodiment has been shown schematically, it should be understood that the scope of the invention is not limited to this form but that it extends to any box comprising the general characteristics defined more ' high.

Claims (2)

R E V E N D I C A T I ON S   1.- Application of a handling pallet as described in patent application No. 87 13240 to the production of a box, characterized: in that, to constitute a box, it is fitted in notches (4) at the end - mite of a first pallet intended to constitute the bottom (1) of the body, the notches (4) similar   a second and a third pallet (3.3 '), available   placed perpendicularly to the first and intended to constitute two sides of said box, the other two sides possibly being constituted by shelves of suitable shape; 2.- Box according to claim 1, characterized in that the three pallets (1,3,3 ') are identical; 3.
