Installation for handling containers in the hold of a fishing vessel, these containers being arranged on either side of a rolling path located, in the hold, in the axis of the vessel, rails oriented transversely to the vessel also being arranged under the containers, which installation is characterised in that the rolling path 2 receives a carriage 10 composed, on the one hand, of a base 11 moving over this path, on the other hand, of a plate 14 which is movable on portions of rails 13 provided on the base, the rails 4 oriented transversely to the vessel and the portions of rails 13 of the base being arranged so as to be placed in the extension of one another, drive means being provided, on the one hand, to move the plate 14 of the carriage on the transverse rails 4 of the vessel, on the other hand, to slightly raise the plate 14.
